Backwards compatibility is a feature long-missed in the PS3 hardware, but a newly discovered patent hints that Sony wants to bring it back. Is this coming to the PS3 Slim? Doubtful, but stranger things have happened.
OMG, reason to buy a PS3 may have come to light ... No i dont care about BluRay cause i dont have a 1080p TV ... yet ... LOL!
I must really be behind on news. I hadn't even heard about the PS3 slim until I read this article. Now there are pages saying it'll come out next month lol.
I read in a different article that this will probably be a feature only offered by the "slim" model. And if it does actually come to the normal PS3, they will probably charge for it.

They have a software add on for better backwards compatibility because the 80 gigs have nothing basically. So this would be moving from pure software emulation to hardware emulation again.
