PS3 fights the 360 on features, needs to compete on price

    From Ars Technica:

Sony wants to attack the 360's lack of value and bring up its own rich feature set, but the company continues to to ignore the power of a low price. The good news? A price drop may make the PS3 more competitive, as our own numbers show a real hunger for the system.

Already owning a Xbox and loving it, i really only need the PS3 for the BluRay. Until the price drops, i dont care to spend that much on a gaming system.

in reality how much cheaper is it?
there are so many addons req'd for the xbox to get up to the same functionality as ps3 at its default... THEN you have to pay for xbox live on top of that!

I would agree however it would not be smart to buy right now, its been over what... 2 years since the last price drop? I'd assume its coming before xmas this year.
especially if they can release the slim
Helicopters don't fly; they vibrate so much and make so much noise that the earth rejects them.

Ummm did you read the article? I dont care about wireless, i dont have to pay an "extra $100" to match the PS3 when i would just plug it into my switch that is 4-5' away. The Hard Drive being "Small," that is horse until you start getting into Games on Demand with its 5+ gig downloads that could POTENTIALLY kill your HD space. I dont play more then a few games at a time and i bought an Elite so i still have 90+ gigs free. You can find used HD's from people who upgraded from the arcade 20Gigers and get one of those cheap if you need a quick upgrade in space. Nothing the PS3 offers me, besides BlueRay, is something im missing on my Xbox. The games they have exclusive rights to are not games i want to play, that selling point is out the window too.

As for live ... I pay 50 bucks a year, or roughly $4.17 a month for a unified friends list, integration with my Zune account, messaging on Messenger/Live, advanced offering of Demo's, premium content like the 1 vs. 100 Beta, any much more. Even the free Silver account gets to do online play with friends! If your telling me this is a steal, then you better not or have ever played an MMO.

I still would be buying it more for a BluRay and the occasional game then anything else and i dont even have a 1080p TV! Not even really worth it then now that i think about it till i get a new TV.
