Best Buy launching huge 360 game sale, PS3 next week

    From Ars Technica:

I return from me week long battle with what ever it is that knocked me my arse with news of impending sales!

Best Buy has quite the deal on Xbox 360 games running at the moment: if you buy one game from a list you get the second one half-off. The surprise? The number of AAA games that qualify. Take a look at the list inside.

A partial list of games and prices is included after the jump, and I'm guessing you'll be able to find at least two games you've been meaning to pick up.

    $60 Games:
    • Halo 3: ODST (pre-order) $60
    • Fallout 3 $60
    • Resident Evil 5 $60
    • Madden NFL 10 $60
    • Batman: Arkham Asylum $60
    • Call Of Duty: World at War $60
    • Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (pre-order) $60
    • UFC 2009 Undisputed $60
    • Many More
    $40 Games
    • Halo 3 $40
    • Fable II $40
    • Halo Wars $40
    • Gears Of War 2 $40
    • Grand Theft Auto IV $40
    • Many More
    $30 Games
    • Far Cry 2 $30
    • Bioshock $30
    • Dead Space $30
    • Tom Clancy's EndWar $30
    • Star Wars: The Force Unleashed $30
    • Many More
    $20 Games
    • Madden NFL 2008 $20
    • The Orange Box $20
    • Mirror's Edge $20
    • Battlefield: Bad Company $20
    • Tony Hawk's Proving Ground $20
    • Mercenaries 2: World in Flames $20
    • Many More
I saw this list over at Evil Avatar, and it seems like it originated at SlickDeals, where there is evidence that next week a very similar deal will go live for the PlayStation 3, so Sony fans need only sit tight.
See anything you'd like to pick up?

Don't worry, MW2 doesn't come out until November.

Okay so i went through basically all 230 listings ... this appears to be every game they have in their inventory. I saw a few items that were clearance or outlet that were not included but i think they are doing a massive inventory reduction with this.

I found a bunch of games they have on pre-order that i wouldnt mind getting but nothing i know for sure is good.

The sale appears to be all week so i am going to do a bit of thinking about what i want to get.

    50% Off

Buy one Xbox 360 game priced $79.99 or less, and get a second of equal or lesser value for half price. Plus free shipping.
    Excludes pre-orders.
Figures ... now im going to have to find something for reals to buy.

I don't see that anywhere. I still see pre-orders in the list and I got in my order of GH5 and H3 ODST with 50% off of one.

    I can pre-order both!

It only appears to be on the main page of the Xbox category. If you scroll down to the featured offeres, it shows that qoute.

I just went to go get an eight port gigabit switch to replace the five port 10/100 one i have and was shocked when they told me that D-Link is no longer carried in store ... Had to settle for the more expensive Netgear one. Oh wells.

Too bad i dont have a big enough power supply for a new video card ... sigh.

Earthwatts 500 ... I was reading up on the DC thread how the new 285 is getting screaming high results but it needs way to much power needing 575w 42A PSU. Im just worried that the 500w 44A i have now isnt going to cut it, or have enough rails for the card.

Think i may just save up for a new rig entirely since my current mobo doesnt support SLI ...

wouldn't worry about SLI, the 285 can handle anything thrown at it now with a single card.

(extra PCIE x16 slot is nice though for an extra card or two for F@H, but since F@H doesn't support SLI or Crossfire, no big loss there, you just run the cards independent of each other for 2 or more in a single rig)

Crysis, Win7 64-bit/DX10, Game run in 64-bit mode, 1920x1080, 4x AA, everything set to high, PhysX enabled, still gets 30-50+ fps easily in most parts of the game. Paired with an i7 920 and 3GB DDR3, if this setup can handle that with ease, any game out now will run smooth on a single card.

as to PSU, I'm only running a 750W Corsair Unit, with a single 60A 12v rail. and I still have room to spare for power (2nd 285 possibly).

an Antec Earthwatts 500 should be able to handle a single 285, at the very least it should handle a cheaper and almost as fast factory OC'd 275 easily.

Just so ya know, Iam currently folding 2x 8800GTS(G92) off a 500 watt Antec Basiq 24/7 and have been for months without a hiccup.

ya, definitely not enough for a 285! Time to start saving up for a new rig.

I still havnt found anything i really want...

The Bioshock/Oblivion combo is tempting but nothing else is really sparking my interest.

I'm not trying to dishearten you from getting a new rig but, just keep in mind that the psu requirements for gpu's are total system combined. Ok back on topic
