| Sony sued over PS3 update that supposedly bricks consoles
From Ars Technica: Quote: |
Sony is facing a class-action lawsuit claiming the company's latest firmware update has caused major hardware issues with certain PS3s; the main hot button for console-owners is that Sony is apparently charging $150 to repair the damage.

Nah not a contender as its just firmware and not a hardware issue. I dont see how sony gets off trying to charge 150 bucks to fix their problem tho. |

With the Price of that system, how much would it drive up costs to have a Dual Bios for situations like this?
Am still wondering why modern consoles these days still don't offer this kind of feature, with online connectivity, and the ability to much easier upgrade their firmware as a result, as well as the tech knowledge levels of most that own these systems is not up to the task of doing it right in the first place. Dual Bios capability has been on PC's for many years now.
oh well, doesn't necessarily Fix the problem at hand here, but would help users from having a bricked console in the end. (and lessen the chance of Law Suits to the Company).

Anyone with this as the verified reason for bricking could end up with free shipping and an expedited repair for this.
PS: Just got my refurb 360 replacement for RRoD repair ... I really wish i had known they were just going to swap it out ... AND they threw in a 1 month Live membership to boot too! |
