off subject but i'm actually looking into building a new computer, thinking of utilizing the GTX 495 when they come out, i'm curious if i can SLI 4 actual cards together.

Unless its supported by the Nvidia Drivers when it comes out, I doubt it.

I haven't read much on the newer cards, but is the 495 the full 512 Core 480? or is that the rumored Dual GPU variant?

as it is, the current top end models should be able to run New Vegas fully maxed anyways, or I would imagine it should be enough.

as for me, I'm just going to wait on a discount deal for New Vegas, I have to get back into the original game, and finish that if I can, still have 2 or 3 expansion/add ons to buy for it too.

i read that they plan on using the 480 chips unlike what they did with the 295 and used the 275's

but i don't really mean an actual quad SLI but what about having card 1 and 2 SLI'd together and card 3 and 4 sli'd together.

    that kind of config?

I know what your saying, but really what would the point be?

cards 1 & 2 in SLI for the Graphics? what would Cards 3 & 4 do? PhysX?

a better setup and currently you can do this, is Tri-SLI + PhysX...

run 3 cards in Triple SLI, connected and all, and a 4th card, either the same or a lesser card (GTX400's are probably WAY overkill for a PhysX Card), Running PhysX for games that support that.

so say you have 3 GTX 480's, you could add a GTS 250 for PhysX and that would be your 4 card set up.

As i have this for the xbox ... I may get it for the 360. Personally though ... i am not 100% on playing through it again but i may rebuy for the PC to get more life out of the game.

thats kinda my idea too, i have fallout 3 for ps3 but i want more life out of it, if they don't include some sort of continuation that uses your game information from the previous fallout then i'll probably go with PC

I'm thinking multiple monitors, like 8.... 3D....in 2 rows of 4, and a GPU for each monitor. Thats what i'm trying to make.

If that'll work then i'll just use one of my 285's for physx

Don't get me wrong i prefer something more power like GTX 485 Classified 4-way SLI over the 495 but i'm just seeing if theres a way to utilize 4 495's to have an 8 GPU setup... when all this comes out.

Dang, thats more money than I have to spend, and over my head as far as a setup goes then...

    8 Displays?

after my reply yesterday, after thinking about it though, I was thinking it might be possible for a Dual SLI Display set up of sorts, have 2 separate SLI setups, for 2 displays...

but the one question is, does a 4 way SLI GPU setup, 2 Dual GPU cards, support 4 monitors each?

I know SLI always had the problem of only running one display for SLI, and recently, relatively anyways, allowed more displays, but, 4 displays?

if this were a Radeon 58xx setup, I'd say heck yes, its possible with 3 and 6 display Eyefinity cards, but not sure on Nvidia's front if they would enable more than 2 displays for SLI.

a Dual GPU SLI setup I think can support 2 displays, but not sure about a Quad SLI dual card setup.

What i know about running more then a couple or even 3 monitors is that it typically requires special video cards. Now i am not saying it cant be done but OS's and games are not designed to run on that many screens at once. The picture would look horrible with the way most monitor bezels are. I cant stand the gap between my dual monitor setup at all. The logistics of setting up four monitors on top of four monitors means either recessing or mounting on a wall ... that alone not only sounds like more work then its worth but sounding like its going to look like garbage if your off my anything in mounting.

More power to you if you have an idea of how this would be pulled off and work great but i just cant see it in my head.
