| EA BF patch 1.6 ='s no online fun for me!
Weird and annoying BOTH. I can play SP all day long not one issue. On D-up I just spent a entire day dw 1.6 patch and now when I join a game online. It connects to their IP then it says "loading map" etc. Gets halfway done-then "BAM" back to desktop and my wall-paper is gone just generic windows blue is left! Nice. No error screen, nothin. Now what??? Im gonna have to piss around with diff stuff. Just gonne be hit and miss I guess if its even fixable without them yet again patching the game. Which will be another 200mb or whatever. LOL. I dont know what to think. It cant be video settings etc. as SP is great. And this just started today. No viruses I scanned with AntiVir and its up to date. Not a firewall issue either. And its any game I try to join in BF. Lan games are fine too. Im clueless.

heh. I joined two games= fine. Changed NOTHING. Both were Punkbuster enabled. THEN second game BAM. I get this message.
"You have been kicked VIA punkbuster (for 2 minutes).......timeout trying to update PB client."
WTF is that all about. GREAT> its boots anyone not just those who cheat. Wonderfull tool. THen I decide to turn of PB and run a game on a non PB server. Guess what-back to the desktop crash, with blue desktop again! After 2 min or so wall paper comes back. EA you really managed to kill the good work Digital Illusions did making this game with yer stupid patches that break more then they fix! urg. I just want my BF back dang it. |

Maybe you got a bad download for it. If you had broadband, I would have suggested finding another source, but thats not so easy with dial up. Other than that, I dont know what to tell you. |

Hm..i recently downloaded the 1.6 patch and no problems
Although BF has always run pretty shaky on my machine. Its unfortunate youre on dialup or I'd jsut say reinstall and try the download again.

maybe dialup is half the issue....some servers dont let pings that are above XXX and that is why you are kicked. |

also, since you are on dial up, you might not have been able to download punkbuster updates fast enouogh, then the server boots you for having an old version of punkbuster.

Could be. I do select dial-up connection from the server list. So if they did that it should exclude them from showing on my list. Right? Or no? Im not sure quite what that tab is for but I presumed it was for that?
"also, since you are on dial up, you might not have been able to download punkbuster updates fast enouogh, then the server boots you for having an old version of punkbuster."
Thats is probably what that Punkbuster error was. But then went I went back to reg. non punkbuster "powered" server I got the kicked to desktop deal again. I mean if the server kicks me it shouldnt crash game to desktop. The punkbuster error didnt. Weird. If EA says up to 16 on dialup a game of 8 should work. Thats like false advertising man. LOL. |
