Diablo
What is it about Diablo that makes you people that like it love it?
I am always hunting for new "addicting" games and never seem to like any as much as CS. I now like RTCW alot also. I got many others besides FPS I play but mainly those 2.
I downloaded the Diablo demo and just couldnt see what was great or even fun about it. I did only spend about an hour playing it, so maybe I just didnt give it enough time to grow on me.
It kinda reminded me of the old Nintendo game, castlevania, which I never could get into.
So, what made you like Diablo so much? I am singling out Diablo cause I got a few buds who love it.

Multiplayer is best, if you dont play online it gets boring fairly quick.

Yea diablo2 is fun multiplayer because when a monster drops a cool item there is a race to get to it.

Yes thats true it gets boring kinda fast unless your online playing with people and more fun with just your friends.
After you get father into the game its alot more fun. I guess its just more of a what type of games you like.

Lateralus, I know how you feel. My brother loves Diablo and Starcraft. I just cant get into them. Counter Strike on the other hand just kicks a$$!!! RTCW is good also but I'm set on CS. Max Paine was good (While it lasted), Serious Sam was ok (I guess). But all these diablo stile games just dont interest me that much. Maybe one day one will come out that just blows my socks off, then I'll know what it feels like.
That smells not my computer... IS IT????

Part of it is, just trying to get your levels up. Trying to get more and better equipment. I have some friends that I play D2 with, that I've known since shortly after the first diablo came out. I've spent MANY an hour playing Diablo I, that was back in college, dont have that kind of time now lol
I do still enjoy playing though, its cool to get some friends together and just bs through a game lol
Problem with CS is its just too much competition, not as much fun typically. Granted I dont know what its like to play with a group of friends I've only played public games. People get too pissed off by little stuff Ptttht

It's about what you like. I love CS but can't get into Diablo 2 or Starcraft. I really enjoy getting online with my clan and whomping everyone while they trash talk about you cheating. It's great fun!

Just getting into Diablo myself. Wanted to figure out how it worked first. How do you get into a multi-player game? I'd like to play and maybe learn some tricks and tips?

You mean Diablo II correct?
The first menu you'll hit says
Single Player
Battle.net
US Gateway East (or something of that nature)
Other Internet game (something like that)
Exit Diablo II
First of all change your gateway to match your location. Hit the Us Gateway East button and choose either Europe, East Asia, US East, or US West its up to you.
Then you will arrive back at the menu screen, choose "Battle.net"
You will then be connected to b.net where you will be required to download a patch first (if you haven't already downloaded the patch) and then you will need to create an account
Now your account name is different than what your user name will be. So put in your acct name (everybody will be able to see this so using your real name is of course very bad). Then once you do that you will create a character with a username. Once that is completed you will be able to play that character on battle.net ONLY! These are closed chars, its suggested you play on battle.net only chars, as from what I've heard open chars are a bit hacked
Good luck

If you really want a challenge play DII on bnet in hardcore mode. Normal (softcore) really isn't a challenge anymore.
One appealing thing is that up until about 2-3 months ago you could find big items and sell them on ebay making good money quickly. Those days are over though :-(
IMO D2/X is more fun when you are playing with a group of friends on battle.net. Especially if you co-op hardcore with different characters.

Hmm I'm guessing your still in normal then

Then you gotta beat nightmare difficulty, and then hell difficulty... LOL
You can use the same char through all 3 difficulties Extremely important) so it takes a while if you're by yourself. You can also play Diablo I online, although can't remember the exact steps
I imagine there are still some people out there playing it, but DEFINATELY watch out for hacks Diablo I was HORRIBLE for hackers

Hey Vass! what do you mean hacks!

I have a hardware firewall(router) and Zonealarm. You mean hacking through this while you're playing?

no no no...People use trainers so they get unlimited mana, unlimited health, god mode, etc. I used to be a MK (Monster Killer..A very horrible thing to do to other players..) I was 100% legit and was killed several times because people had somekind of god mode that a scanner couldn't see.
I think it was the Bobafett trainer, and now it's useless against hacks because Blizzard released a new patch for DI and no one made a new scanner for it.
Just be aware...

I will give the game another go I guess. I just remember slowly walking around looking a poor graphics, thinking why is this such a hot game. I like nice graphics, heck its 2002, I dont wanna feel like I'm playing a gameboy.
I am just in search of awesome games. I dont feel like i'm really just a FPS gamer. CS was my 1st FPS, and I simply got addicted.
Its fast paced, good graphics (compared to games like diablo), great real sound, easily to learn yet hard to be good, and its team based. I know there are alot of cheaters, but not all servers have cheaters. Most any game has cheaters now, thats just part of it.

Remember that Diablo is a couple years old and is a RPG that was released before everquest, DiabloII (obviously) and some others..When it was released and a few years after it was still undoubtebly (sp) the best RPG game.

CS = boring.
Tribes = fast paced awesomeness
I enjoy CS from time to time but geez....people b**ch and moan more than little kids on that game...plus...its RAMPANT with cheaters even in the new version. I enjoy it sometimes but I find it way too slow too. Now for those who want good TEAMPLAY (way better than CS IMO) then pick up Tribes...its extremely different tactics than CS but its still a FPS and its really fast and extremely fun. I have played Tribes ever since it came out back in 98 (long time ago) and have been on some excellent teams ever since. We competed in OGL and managed to place #2 overall (so damn close to #1 but no cigar) and now Im on a different team competeing in the TWL. Its really fun to play as a team and know eachothers style of play. When not playing with people you know or at least have consistently seen on that server then it just gets annoying. But come on...pick up Tribes
You wont regret it!

We have an outrageous system of executive compensation in his country. If the huge salaries topped by even huger (is there such a word? :heh:) were the outcome of free market competition, I would...
