A few thoughts: Quote: |
Kinda' makes you believe that the whole "source code stolen" bit was just a cover-up for an unfinished game.
| Anyone who will actually believe this is an illogical idiot. Not saying any of you are, but just in case.
I also hear lots of comments like "no one cares" "it will never come out" blah blah blah. sheesh It will come out this year, and you all will be saying its the best thing ever. I can't wait to dig up this thread then and show the hypocrisy |

Tony, actually, that comment does make sense... If the source code was stolen how could that delay the game? It doesn't mean the source code was deleted, it means it was copied. If the code was *really* stolen then wouldn't Valve want to HURRY to release it fast before any other company uses the stolen code? It's a big fat lie, i'd rather they just say "yeah, we are lazy programmers, playing the beta of HL2 too many times, can't be arsed programmed, you know... Let's delay it a year" |

| No, because the moment they started devoloping they would have a huge lawsuit on their @ss. It would be cut and dried, Valve would win hands down. And believe me, the code was "*really*" stolen. I have 3.3 gb's of proof on my hard drive.
Not saying I totally agree Valve either. I do believe there is more to it than just the code being stolen. IMO, it is probably conflicts with hardware of some sort, possibly vid cards.

You have 3.3 gb's of proof on your hard drive? Cool. Isn't that illegal? I wouldn't post that on this forum, if Valve find out... |

The source code was stolen and this was a real shame, but what also disgusts me was people like you who downloaded the source code to their PCs so they could try and play some pre unfinished version of the game.
It's like supporting the people who stole the code in the first place.
I was really hanging out for Half Life 2 last year and this year as well. The game really had to be released by April 04 at the latest IMO.
Delaying a game only loses peoples interest, Half Life 2 was gonna be one of those new games that had breath taking graphics etc But now it's gonna be delayed further I dont think people are going to be as impressed anymore with its merits, I wouldn't even be supprised that when it finally came out that its graphics would be dated.
I don't think Half Life 2 will be able to rely on it graphics no more for when it finally comes out, no HL2 is gonna have to pull some amazing tricks out of its bag if it wishes to pull the crowd it wants. |

Valve sure does have it together...
The game will still be one hell of a game, but the people behind it are about as dumb as it gets.

You ever notice how companies that make the best things are always airheads and never have it together? Like Valve, they think Steam will solve all the worlds problems....WRONG. They also kept delaying CS 1.6 until finally they released something that needed patching anyways. I had to wait over a month for Valve to get it together and patch Steam to where it wouldn't crash my PC everytime it was opened. Bear in mind that the only time my PC has frozen or crashed was when I was using early yet still past 1.0 relases of Steam.
But back to the subject - I don't believe this release date in the first place. Notice how Valve hasn't said anything, just IGN? Think about it. |
