RTCW cheats, how to enable?

There was a similar problem in Half-Life. Sometimes it would give an error when entering a cheat, but then it would work again later, so I guess this is the case with Wolfy too

Its a problem allot have been having.. I myself at one moment could get the cheats to work.. then started a new game.. in which they no longer worked..

Thye say that your best shot is to put the comand line in the shortcut.. go into the game.. save.. exit.. restart.. reload.. and try the cheats that way.. I didn't find that works.. but its the recomended way to get it to work.. and yeah Half Life had this same problem.

Multiplayer cheaters ruin the fun of the game for everyone ... i hope you don`t use that ...

only for a minute or two with some friends on a server with only 4 people on it. it was fun but it is definately more fun playing the normal way. I did enjoy their reaction, however, to seeing me hurdle 50 grenades in their direction in like 20 secs.

It seems (or not) that you have to use the doctored shortcut then save a game then come out and restart the main game then reload the saved game then the cheats work from the console. The trick is to come out of the game completely before restarting and then loading the saved game .

same here, I was wondering if you can send me that exe shortcut ken, it would be very much appreciated During the installation for rtcw I get a .dll error at the end and click no to rollback the installation. It works fine but when it comes to cheats I get the same problems as doomer.

I had some problems with the cheats as well but I found that if you play the hardest level "death incarnate" or something that the cheats would not work for me.

Drove me nutz. However, I would suggest that you play all the way through before cheating.

I was able to aquire a beta version of the single player version, im trying to activate cheats but becuase its a mac i cant edit the shortcut i have no shortcuts only alias which are totaly differently strucutred, i try to enter set sv_cheats 1 in the console but is says "sv_cheats is read only" anyone got any ideas? im up to the ritual part with the 2 super things

Hey guys how ya doing? I'm new here as you can see
After finishing RTCW, I wanted to cheat & try out the other weapons also & to use them in the eariler levels.
I Just want to point out, it's the same thing in Medal Of Honor: Allied Assualt, another Quake 3 based game. The only difference is, after you save/quick save a game, you can just press quick load & the cheats will work. It's weird why it does this. & sometimes when you start a new level, cheats turn off & you have to quick save then quick load & they turn back on. But the in game load feature(F9) won't actaviate the cheats in RTCW, you have to exit & start from a saved game as mentioned in the previous posts. Just wanted to let the peeps know who are still having problems with it, I'm using version 1.3 by the way.

dude, i have come to save the day.... i actually just registered to this forum to come save the day ;P so here it goes: after realising you have the same version of the game as i do, (i had tried many times to put the" + set sv_cheats 1" into the command line many different ways) and i had almost given up when i started trying different numbers... well i tried 2 and it failed so i was like "this ain't going to work"... HOWEVER i randomly tried 4 as a value and voila! problem solved! i was like OMG it worked... damn i'm good.

P.S. no need to thank me... by the time you do i will be forever lost in the abiss of what we call wolf et. come to -=mountain=- xp save for a party you'll enjoy, YOU MUST NOT INSTALL THE 2.6 PATCH IF YOU WANT TO COME TO THE SERVER...

you have to load a game, quit to the main menu, open the console, then type "\set sv_cheats 1"
load your requested game afterwards

NOTE:
if you try the "set sv_cheats 1" before you load a game or start a new one it wont work

Weird huh ?.. anyway, whenever you want, hit me with a mail .. the files i sent Doomer are still around ...

Maybe as mentioned before .. it is a matter of timing or so ..
