Is this a good computer for gaming

Hello everyone, I'm building a cpu and wanted to know what you guys thought of these specs and if I'll be ok playing today's and tomorrow's games:

Gigabyte GA-7VT600-L W/6Channel Sound, ATA133, USB 2.0, LAN
AMD ATHLON XP 2800+ 333MHZ OEM SOCKET-A PROCESSOR
RADEON 9800 Pro 128MB Video Cards
PC3200 DDR400 512MB x 2= 1Gig
80GB Western Digital "SE" 8MB 7200 ATA 100
Standard Sony CD-RW
300 Watt Case w/ 2nd case fan

ill suggest a good 350 power supply... I have heard that ATI 9800 are power hungry...

but overall its a killer system..

It will be a very good gaming system, but as stated, you're going to want ATLEAST a good quality 350... Honestly, i'd go for someithing in the 400 watt range for a little headroom. I definatly wouldnt want to run that on a 300 watter, not even a good quality 300.

No, its a horrible configuration. It will not run current games at all. Is that what you wanted to hear?

No you probably know the answer to your own question.

If you are going lay down some serious cash for a pc for some near top of the line parts then it should obviously play the latest games, that is unless it doesn't even boot up

By the way, I heard from some other posts that the prices on video cards may drop soon because ATI + Nvidia are coming out with the next gen lineup. May want to hold on the purchases, patience does reward those who wait.

Well I jumped the gun yesterday and bought 2.8 AMD XP processor for about $124 (retail w/ fan) and a ATI 9800 Pro for $200. Thanks for all the help guys. I really appreciate it. I'll let you know how it runs once setup.

UMMMMM i woulda suggested getting a 2500 and ocing it to 3200 speed or higher, but even with that 2800 in it it should beat off most other competition.
