You should lookinto buying a new video card. Your processor and memory are both good but to really get the new games to shine, you need a DX9 video card.

doom3 boxes are in the shops.......................just the boxes ..............but hey its a start...............u know the ones........those "pre-order your copy now" boxes.......are in "game"..............pc-cdrom not dvd.................ooooooohhh baby

zero, u can keep thinking that u can judge a game without playing it.... i suppose this is why a game is made to interact with (to play with) and not to just sit back and watch? u think ur the only one who has seen the 30 minute hl2 visual demo? quit bashing a game that hasnt come out yet... thats like someone saying a book sucks without even reading it.

dude - play doom and hl2 - then maybe your opinions would make more sense... right now - although u are entitled to your own opinions - they make no sense to anyone who has posted here.

but anyway.. enough of my rant... i still cant wait for doom 3!!

I can't wait for both of them. I will eventually be getting both but neither of them when they are first released. I'll wait a little while for some good reviews and buy the second one(whichever that may be.. and i don't mean in chronological release order) after I finish the first. Because I have a bad habit of not finishing games when I get a new one.

I think we are all going to buy the games unless they won't run on our PC's, at least just for the "I want to see what I've waited so long for".

If it will run on my PC, I'll get it. I don't think HL2's graphics mean a tonne for me, it's the physics that blow me away. The physics, however, aren't what matter, it's what you do with that freedom.

The more we think about it, the longer it's gonna take. The longer the developers take, the better game it will be.

Edit - just noticed this hoary geezer of a thread. Read it, it's a bit old, written in the end of 2002, talking about which games will rule during 2003.

Have you played the Painkiller demo or full game? The physics in that are amazing and will be very similar as they also used the Havok physics engine. Hopefully both of the new games will be able to take that kind physics to the next level of interactivity and flat out "coolness". (for lack of a better word)

I'm not sure where GameStop received their information but they say they have a confirmed date of August 3rd for Doom 3. I just checked id's website and they make no mention of this date. /shrug

Yeah, and I betcha EB or GS went to the other's site and grabbed the info. I bet it was GS that got it from EB, I see games that I haven't even heard of on EBGames.
