| Slow Doom 3 Graphics...video card?
Well, I went out and bought Doom 3 today and was really exicited to play it. I got it installed and booted it up and the graphics are slow...it's probably because of my hardware (video card). I updated my video card drivers 3 weeks ago...are there any more updates released?
If it's not drivers, then I need to go out and buy a new card. I'm wondering what's good enough to play it without any slowness. It'd preferably be a 256mb card with DVI and VGA inputs, since I may buy a flat-panel monitor soon, and i'm using a CRT now.
Here are my specs:
Dell Dimension 4500
2 GHZ Pentium 4 (no HT)
768mb DDR ram
64mb Nvidia Geforce4 MX 420
Samsung DVD/CD-RW combo drive (reads CD's at 32x or 40x?)
Windows XP Home
40GB HD
Thanks for your time. |

I have 700 CANADIAN dollars to spare...but that's all in my bank account
700 CAN = 538.55 US right now.
My Dell case is ATX. |

lets hear how much you want to spend on the video card, not how much is in your bank account (since you want to upgade to a LCD monitor soon)
and also tell us how much detail you want to play the games with, like if you like or want to use AA&AF (which I'm guessing you don't) |

I want it to never be slow, just smooth and nice. I don't want it to ruin the experience like my GeForce4 MX 420 did..
I'll spend as much as 600. |
