Hey guys, ok I may already know the problem with my PC however I just wanted some final opinions. Currently i'm running a 2500+ barton OC'd to 2.26GHZ on a A7N8X Deluxe mobo, 1 GB RAM, and also while running prime95 I am complete stable, doing a Stress Test on my system provided successful results when doing custom settings set between 8 and 1024. Finally, I have my 9800 PRO 256 MB OC'd a bit to 392/362 or somethig like that.
First off, I heard DOOM3 has problems with overclocked ATI cards, so I figured that I would just turn down the OC a bit and try again. Since then I have yet to notice any random crashes. Before, when I was OC'd to the 392 area, I would be playing, get frozen, and then be asked to send and error report, then crash to the desktop. Any ideas on this, or is this true?
Also, yesterday, while playing steam, (this is with the downclocked settings, not the 392 area) I was playing, and then right in the middle of my game last night, steam completely crashed. Literally, steam was not running anywhere on my system? Did anyone else experience this, is it possibly because of the HL2 preload? This was about a half hour in, however I have never had this problem before, and a few days prior to this I was asked to input my password again because my steam ticket expired?
Also as a final note, my 2500+ is being OC'd by the slk900a with a 92mm Vatnec Tornado, and the temps are around 37'C idle and 44'C heavy load.
Any thoughts?
