"Client unknown to auth" doom 3 multiplayer

Can any one help me?

whenever i try to play doom 3 online i always get this error message "client unknown to auth" i'me not sure what this means so if anyone can help i would be greatful. (doom 3 multiplayer sux i kno)

i'me dumb but i thought it might be one of the following things which might be causing the problem:

i am running a ducktape modification with shotgun and shotgun with small flashlights

disconnecting from a server then reconnecting to another server in a too small period of time. doom 3 thinks you are already playing in a server 'disabling' your cd key


these are only guesses so if anyone can help me here i would be greatful.

I think thats a Punkbuster error. I dont play Doom but if I understand correctly your using a mod and that is considered cheating. PB is designed to keep the game honest. Disable the mod.

Q: It this ALL THE TIME? or just after the first connection?

It used to mean

1 you have a Invalid Cdkey
2 the cdkey is Entered Wrong

Also I have heard that having the CDkey in more directories than the main Dir can cause problems.

You may be right about the mod and being too quick to reconnect.
You could try playing without the mod, also give yourself a few minutes before reconnecting.

The last thing I can think of is that the servers may have had a version upgrade that you havent had yet. I havent heard of any so I think thats unlikely.

Humm, invalid CD key, i dought thats the case, i assume doom 3 thinks your CD key is in use from the previous server you played in.

Sorry i can always connect to the first server.

when i go to multiplayer, and i set my filters to leave passworded games out, whenever try to join a game, it always asks me for a password, and i can't join any games, is there somethign i have to do in a certain folder, or do i do somethign else?

I also can't seem to be able to join an internet multiplayer game, I get the error "Client unknown to Auth" but I can run my own internet doom 3 server without any problems.

When I first installed D3 the multipalyer worked but now I've completed the SP game I can't join any servers. I did have a mod which I have removed and I've also updated to v1.1 but I still can't join an online game

I'm stuck, can anyone please help?
