Steam CD key problems.

Hi all,

Got a CD key problem here. My brother get Counter Stryke: Condition Zero for his birthday. The problem is when I try to purchase the game in steam is says that the CD key I entered is already registered This is not the end of the world as online play is not something that he wants to get into at the moment. He does however want to play over LAN with Dad but it appears that that wont work either until youv purchased the game through steam Is that the way it works?

no you are able to buy it at the store and use the key. seems like maybe someone somehow got the key and then returned it (it can be done)

Ahh thanks for the link, the only other help I found at steam was to actualy post the CD key o them in the mail so they can reset it.

It seems as though even if the CD key was made valid that it wont solve our problem anyway because we would still need a second valid CD key to have a 2 player LAN game. We dont really want to buy another copy of the game just to play over LAN. So they'll stick to counter strike classic for now. But ill probably try and get it reset anyway in case bro wants to play online.

i am not sure where you can get these but it is possible to buy cd keys over the internet for about 20 bucks. i am not sure if that is the way you want to go but it is a option.

i have a better way to solve this problem. if you purchessed the cd with the cd key you can send in you case with the booklet that has the cd key on it to steam for 10.00 us dollars. i dont no were you have top send it, but if you go to www.steampowered.com then sopport took for the words cd key and it should give you the address when u get the right one. U can not send an e-mail. It has to bet the origianal cd key no copys scans or anything els.

If It was purchased in the last 90 days you get avoid paying $10 and get your key reset for free.

Yea this game is still well under the 90 day mark so I can do it the send them photo's of the stuff through e-mail way.

similar problem happend to me. went to give someone my cd key to team fortress (never used it or played it, giving it out because he was my mate) and the cd key had been used. :@ the cd case was sealed too :S. no big loss to me but it might of been

Sierra made duplicate keys on these by accident. Wasn't a problem until Steam came along. One CD key per account. I used a Blue Shift key to get in.I also posted a thread about this.

Well at least I know im not alone...

Unfortunatly you cant just use any old key for Condition Zero counter stike.
