Hey y'all,
i want your opinions if things like sound exploiting is really hacking/cheating, i play Americas Army, and i am playing in a final today to see who will win the biggest AA ladder in Australia. we know that our opposition are using sounds exploits, we don't know the specifics, but when there leader knows that his members are using them and tells us that they are using them we know that they are using them
it seems though they can readily change the information in the .ini file to do this
so my questions is,
if u use sound exploits or map exploits or whatever exploits in any game should it be consider cheating/hacking?? |

map exploits like being able to shoot through a wall you are not supposed to then yes i consider that cheating. anything that you use to your advantage that is not part of the game (programmer error, or flaw) is consider cheating. |

I voted yes on the poll.
GZ3: What about custom configurations for games like QuakeIII that give you a fair and "natural" advantage over other players? |

i think GZ3 was meaning like changing a .ini file that can give u unfair advantage, like in this case hearing footsteps up to twice the distance away therefore knowing where the opFor player is... |

well, map exploits i would say yes, but sound exploits? what do you mean? like just changing the sound of guns? or making it so you can hear guns no matter how far away you are? if it gives an advantage, then yes its cheating |

Anything you try to "exploit" in a game is a cheat. INI tweaking, mods, etc.
Play the game as written. If you can't beat your competitor playing the game "as is", then he (or she) is better than you. End of story.
