Note: latency and bandwidth are NOT the same thing!
You can download at REALLY good rates, but thats one way data. Latency refers to time of travel from you, to server, and back so you have to have good latency to play games. Bandwidth only helps to a certain point. |

Well for example, I lag on UK2K3 a bit. But all of my bad experiences probably stem from the fact that my graphics card blows, it lags at drawing the 3d graphics. Either way, I am upgrading the dsl plan. I am pretty mad at download speeds too on this connection. It never downloads at 385kps, usually around 150kps and things never seem to download as fast as people say they do with a standard high speed 385KPS connection.

My modem page says I have 384down 384up.
In a different area it has displays for max speed allowed. In a box titled TO MODEM it says 1536KPS and in another box titled TO INTERNET it says 384kps.
Guessing it means my real download speed is 384kps even though it likes to list my download speed at 1536KPS. |

sounds like your download speeds are where they should be
I'm guessing those numbers mean 1536KBps down (1.5mbit, typical for DSL) and 384KBps up (also typical for most connections)
with this your 150kbps download is where it should be for that connection. |

Where would they be for a 800KPS down connection to internet. I do not have a 1.5mbps connection, it says that but it limits it to 384KPS to internet. I have a 384 down and 384 up connection basically. 1.5megs per second is alot more then I currently pay for this heh. |
