Yea I started getting the "You are not in a guild." Message on sign ons/offs about a month ago despite being in a guild, at first I thought I pissed someone off even though I'm not very talkative in gchat. Yea I had to spend a moment contemplating what mod it was doing that. Group calender.

You should read this article because after spending near 4 years of my life supporting blizzard with their subscription ... I don't think they miss me much anymore.
As a soloer in the game, the majority of the new content is not something i care about nor will i ever get to do. I have done some 5 man in the instances for Outlands but that is the extent of the "higher" content. I go through the areas and do the quests, explore the land, and then i do some trade skilling as applicable. As far as i am concerned, I am done and am waiting on the next expansion to come around.
I guess you could say i am missing out on alot of content because i don't rep grind either ... but frankly if i wanted to do repetitive tasks over and over, I would get another job.
PS: ill stop now. |

ya the game isn't really made for soloers imo, it's the social aspect that keeps most people I know there. |

Im was there for social aspects too ... I have friends and a gaming community that i play with. I just wasn't all die hard for 10/25man raids that take 4+ hours and grinding for rep/gold/gear/drops/materials/etc.
I have this crazy idea in my head that WoW changed directions when they brought instances into the picture. For the entirety of the old world, you had grouping and questing with the occasional instance run FOR A QUEST. There was always multiple quests to complete in an instance or even start and finish inside. Ive noticed that with Outlands, that stress of having a reason to enter an instance is overshadowed by the need for rep and gear.
Taking this into account, the mythology they had relied on and most people overlooked is just going away because people that play don't care anymore. They are spending so much time on making sure that each player spends so much time doing something that it comes down the "physical" rather than intrinsic rewards in the game. Instead of a sense of accomplishment at downing a boss its what reward/drop did i get.
WoW is going to end up dieing a horrible death eventualy when people outside of korea realize that its a time sink and their money is better off spent on eating and doing fun stuff. |
