| Valve why did you do it? -Open letter to Valve
Valve why did you do it? Why did you create a bold new way of distrubuting a game so the end user doesn't have to find a disk to install and worry about scratching and making the disk unreadable? Why did you create a mechanizim to buy a game online where everyone reading this has access to it? Why did you create a centeralized location of all the games I buy from you so I don't have to find the disk next time I want to play the game? Why are you using the internet the way it was meant to be used? Why are you allowing anyone a way to download it? Why are you offering a service most of use have wanted for many years? Why are you taking advantage of technology this way?
Don't you know that you are not suppose to push the envolope of technology? Don't you know anything new is bad? Don't you know that people will opose anything that gives them more choices?
So Valve, I'll ask you one more time, Why? Don't you know?

Because of Steam and Activation, I will choose not to buy it.
Has gamecopyworld fixed it yet? Yes, they have.
There is nothing good imho about steam.

Just in case anybody misses the point. I'm trying to point out the many positive things that Valve has tried to do. I agree with the complaints about Steam not running smoothly. We should expect it to run smoothly, but this is the first Highly popular game ever distubuted in this manor. I would expect Valve to fix these issues and upon their next release get things that much closer to being perfect.

I don' take well to be treated like a thief by a huge company that ships a buggy game.
Wouldn't it be ironic if Valve went broke.. Overnight bankrupt? Unlikely -- yes. But if it did happen, imagine how many useless copies of HL2 people would own, copies that they paid perfectly good money for. |

I like the concept of steam and I really have nothing terrible to say about it. There are few bugs with the delivery system anymore. The system of online play is standard and easy for even computer illiterate people. It updates all my stuff automatically which can hardly be a bad thing. What is it exactly that people don't like about steam these days, besides the occasional server overload? Is it that you can't pirate the game anymore? oh no! Or hack extrodinarily easily? ahhhhh! |
