Hey...it's "XBOX Thread Day" for me.
Not that you don't already know this, but I do sincerely appreciate all of your help!
Okay...I heard that XBOX games can actually be stored on the XBOX itself where you don't have to use the CD to play them. One of moo's old friends even said he has like 60+ games stored. True? If so, how? (please post only if it is legal...otherwise, please PM me any questionable material if you're not sure)
Thanks fellow nerds (or geeks, take your pick),
~Mike |

It's technically Illegal. It requires 'Mod'ing your XBOX (in some cases requires sautering a chip over your existing chip on your XBox) thereby voiding your warranty. Additionally, If you take your XBOX on live you will violate your EULA and get your Xbox banned. If your still interested you can probably do a google search and get all the info you'll need on how to.

just ask it here, alot of people do more than just storing games on the xbox. They install console emulators to be able to play nes, Super nes, n64, etc roms, music, movies, and etc.
How is it illegal? all you have said was it would void the warranty. where does the legal aspect come into play? |

You'd need to
a) install a mod chip (a pain in the ass).
b) install a bigger hard drive
c) load new BIOS onto the mod chip
d) Install software onto the hard drive such as Evolution-X
from there you can rip/store games into your hard drive...at least in microsofts eye's the whole proceedure is highly illegal since it bypasses security checks on the xbox's motherboard (the mod chip).
Three are "software glitches" in certain games save/load procedures that allow you to get software onto the xbox that way, with no mod chip required, however most of the time thats just used to try to get linux or hacks loaded onto the xbox.
Ask away on the xbox live question...
----edit---
err I guess im typing too slow today =( |

I know it needs a broadband connection...does it need any special setup (aside from having the wireless card) to connect to my Linksys router?
Sorry for the n00b questions, but my oldest stepson wants to get on XBox Live and I'm not familiar with it at all.
Thanks! |
