20-35fps w/6800 in far cry? sound right?

    Hey Guys,

Reviews of the vanilla 6800 suggest that expected frame rates in Far Cry should be 50+, even the 9800 pro apparently gets 40+!! but i get 20-35fps!

In Far Cry my settings are all high+ w/ x2 af 0x aa and the sound settings are low. My card is overclocked, tried it at stock and performance was worse, the drivers i got work better than any others i've tried (gone through most!) and the card is gr8 in other games eg Doom 3, HL2 etc gettin 40+ average

I've tried 1gb of generic ram, no help, my rig temps and graphic temps don't exceed 55c underload. The frame rates are dire in Far Cry, why is this? I also have the lastest patch (1.3) and hav jus re-installed in the hope that that mite help

i dont run any background apps and checked spyware etc, like i said all other games run gr8...plz help me guys

ok this is where you get it from. http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html . those scores are right. and yes my rig is going good now except i have got a problem with farcry and my sound other then that it is going well.

also if you push the clock speed to far games will slow down as well.

also just post your lo when you run it id like to look at it some programs hide by faulse names.

wow that is a clean log. looks like your aswer doesnt come from in there. try playing far cry on stock speed or even just a little over stock it could be that you have pushed the card to far. also just watch the temps pc parts will slow down if there is to much heat.

Yeah, cheers, nice to know my rig is clean...i fink i mite install another two or three fans coz the cpu temps in eversham are 63c idle (bios says 45c+ which i believe is more true).

i just find it strange that even the fat $*@# Doom 3 runs at 40fps+ and hl2 most of the time 45fps+, tho cs:source runs the best, usually 50fps+

If anyone does hav any other ideas tho, plz let me kno

I've read similar complaints on the farcry forums from 6800 owners. Even GT and Ultra cards. Apparently there is performance issues with farcry and these cards with the newest patch because of the games implimentation of SM3.0. The fix is to disable SM3.0 and go back to good ole' 2.0 that every other card uses, and that ALL cards were using prior to the 1.3 patch.

I do not remember how to disable SM3, but i'm sure a google search should get you an answer.
