| PSP vs. DS
Okay, I'm seriously considering buying either a Playstation Portable ( my choice ) or the Nintendo DS in the near future ( wifes choice ).
Once feature that has the DS in the lead is the built in organizer software, which the wife really likes, as it provides her with a good reason to actually use the thing and carry it around....purpose beyond just games.
The PSP being wireless and the fact that GT4 portable looks just damn too good to pass up ( and me being a Sony fanboy for games ) makes me want it because it's a portable I'll actually sit and play with.
If the PSP had any built in software that allowed it to be used as a PDA of sorts along with the main gaming usage, my sale is all but finished, but I can't find any info on that aspect....yet.
Does anyone know if the PSP has PDA capabilities, and which would you choose for the next generation hand held gaming console.
PSP boasts that pixel per processor, it is more powerful than a PS2, and the screenshots of Gran Turismo 4 Mobile make me believe it |

When is the PSP slated for US release? Before christmas? And was there a final word on the retail price for the PSP? I heard around $200 which IMO is quite a lofty price for a portable

It was a hard choice for me ... but I am holding out for the PSP. The graphics are simply amazing (PS2 quality but 10 times sharper without those damn jaggies)and it will double as a mp3 player (ipod ... whats that???). I am looking forward to hotshots golf, ridge racers, and any strategy games available (PLEASE GOD FFTactics 2). The biggest flaw of the psp is the battery life. You only get about 5 hours of playtime (with the screen brightness cranked up mind you) until you are forced to charge... with mp3 playback, its alot more. Full charge only takes 2 hours though (the ds has a battery life of about 8 to 10 hours so keep that in mind). I am sure Sony has something pda-ish in the works. Its inevitable really. Regardless, both systems are awesome imo and are packed with features. You cant really lose. I am kinda a graphics whore and I desperately want a mp3 player for jogging, down time between classes, ect ... so the PSP is for me. I love Hot Shots Golf too.
Gamespot.com and Ign.com have been covering both systems launches (PSP was just released in japan and sold out first day) ...

By March 2005 Sony has said (it was just released in Japan) ... 180 for the system ... or 250 for a value pack. You get really cool earphones w/ remote, a memory stick duo, an extra battery, and I think a case with the value pack. Hopefully a demo disk too like in japan (i miss the old days when you got a new system and they included free games). |

The old days, the games were part of the cost. They removed them to make the console prices more attractive.
Considering you're paying 150 for a DS, without MP3 playback ( unless you spend 50 more for an adapter ), the PSP comes in at a price that I can live with. and the size of it is nice, plus it uses 1.8gb minidiscs. There's a whole lot of room on 1.8gb for a really nice game like Final Fantasy :whatever.
Battery life isn't as much of a problem for me as I'll usually have an outlet available to plug into, which I know, defeats the Portability of it. Most of the time though, I don't use it for more than an hour or two anyway. |

Here is a link to the japanese psp launch news and previews to anyone who doesnt know what the hell we are talking about ... http://www.gamespot.com/features/psp..._topslot_click |

Neither, both are a waste of money IMO.
I suppose the PSP is cooler though, so get that
