Boot-up

have a K7VM2 with a 2.0 Athalon Processor and 256 DDR. My question is how can I have the computer boot-up to XP without having to go thru boot-up setup screen every time I restart my computer. Which means I have to depress F8 each X to get to the menu-to then choose the HD and then it boot-up to XP. What a DRAG!!!! I have tried go thru the BIOS setup menu options however the "hd" first option doesn't appear-any suggestions.

Sure there isnt anything like "IDE-0" ?
But if its actually getting to the F8 boot screen.... its finding your hard drive, so that isnt the issue.
Are you sure your XP install isnt just messed up?

I would boot to your XP installation CD, enter the recovery console and use the "fixboot" command.

sounds like u'r boot.ini file sucks....lol. Make sure you can see all hidden files and system folders and then go to my computer C:/ (or whatever hard drive windows is on) and look for boot.ini. Open it in a text editor and post up what it says here.

I would reset your BIOS. (unplug the machine when you do it). That will at least give you the default boot sequence - floppy / IDE 0 / IDE 1 / CDROM

Try that to eliminate incorrect BIOS settings.
