PLANETSIDE -- Newer and Better than Ever
PlanetSide 7 day Trial.
The 7 day free trial has been opened up again for anyone who wants to sample the game, or if you're an ex player and want to see the changes that have been made. You will need to make a new SOE station name - you cant use this offer with old characters if you've played PlanetSide before.
Whats PlanetSide? Watch this video http://www.marcopolo.me.uk/PSMovies/PS_AD_LARGE.wmv
Get hold of a free 7 day trial CD key from http://cmt.ubisoft.fr/planetside_pcgamer/
And a complete download (1.6gb!!) using this installer http://www.greyfalcon.net/psinstall.exe
PlanetSide seems to have turned a corner over the past few months - it's become a whole lot of fun again!
Enjoy.

Battleframes have enhanced Planetside, not brought it down.
You probably just needed a break, personally, I've been playing since closed beta and I still love this game like no other. Planetside is the Greatest Online Shooter ever conceived, and it's just the first try.
Don't worry...if you played for 12 month I can honestly say that you'll eventually be back, just like everyone else....sometimes, you just get burnt and need a breather, as I have, but I always come back, just because there is still nothing like it.

I think that the BFRs killed it. I played since early beta and put up with a lot of crap from Sony.
Air Cavalry Cert
Uni MAX Cert
Flails
Multi Empire Characters per Server
All the nerfs/buffs that made huge imbalances
Making us run around in bright red santa hats last Christmas!!!
BFRs were just the tip of the iceberg.
We were promised heavy tanks, not indestructible walking gimps of death.
I won't be going back until BFRs are removed, which is probably never since they came in a retail expansion, so I'll never be going back.
Once World of Warcraft is out in the UK I'll never need another online game again anyway

May 28th, 2005, 05:30 PM #11If you haven't played in awhile, you might not realize now that BattleFrame's are far from indestructable. Actually, Infantry are the bane of their existance, the way it was supposed to be. It's funny, because if you know what you're doing you can solo a BFR as an infantryman with some Jammers and a pack of Decimators...or a Minichaingun filled with AP Ammo.

Also, if you were looking forward to WoW than maybe a MMOFPS wasn't really right for you anyway. Apples and Oranges and all. Personally, I play both. WoW and PS are very similar in certain fashions, while clashing horribly in alot of others. WoW was a refreshing change, but I got smacked with burnout alot faster than from PlanetSide.

Umm, I enjoyed Planetside for over a year before BFRs. The game's concept isn't the problem, but all these balance changes and new units cause a lot more problems than they fix.
Planetside was a good game, but run by the wrong people. Another company would have made a better job of it IMO."If you are first you are first. If you are second, you are nothing."

Yeah this game rawks and the trial is still up.
Not many games can match the versatility of it.
And BFRS are big time nerfed now, they aren't that big of a deal anymore.
You can solo one anyway with some AV and a mossie.
