Battle for Middle Earth just freezes when I start

I did a fresh install of Win XP Pro. Running a nVidia GeForce4 Ti4200 with AGP 8x graphic card. Got 1gig Ram, 160gig HD and still the damn game just freezes when I run it. Sometimes it works but just for about halfway through the first stage and then it crashes/freeze. It's also very slow. It was working fine before I formatted my HD and now it's just problem after problem. Do you guys think it's just a graphic card driver issue or is their something else i'm missing here? What are the most common errors that mess up games?

since you did a fresh install did you install the drivers for the video and motherboard?

Thanks for the quick reply! I downloaded the latest video drivers directly from nVidia and also installed the motherboard drivers. Everything is as it was before except the game aint working properly.
