PS2 - Wipeout Fusion Review

http://www.gamesradar.com/reviews/game_review_518.html

Oh well, can't say I'm surprised that it's just "average". I'll play a demo if one comes my way but I won't be buying this game. I'll just keep my fond memories of the original PS games (especially 2097) and probably play them occasionally.

I was given a free copy today and found that even that review is too generous. I got about 15 minutes of fun (if that) out of it in the hour I spent playing it.

The physics don't feel as good as the previous WO games. You're constantly getting bombarded by opponent's weapons so you don't get to go fast (i.e. the biggest attraction to Wipeout) often enough. It has bar far the worst case of jaggies I've seen on a PS2 game (it is in desperate need of some AA). No cockpit view which was introduced in Wipeout3 and the sonics are not very good. Basically, not nearly enough fun and far too much frustration. Good job I didn't pay for it.

I'll prolly play it some more occasionally just to check if it actually improves after playing it more, though I doubt it. I'll prolly sell it.

And while I'm at it, WRC for the PS2 is pretty crap. It's a promotion for the sport of rallying disguised as a game. Colin McRae rally is much better.
