Probably the strangest way to compare games but these are the games that I have been looking at to get in the near future. First of all I don't want this to turn into a game bashing or player bashing thread. Just the facts and some opinions about gameplay! If you have played the games and can give a general overview of how they go then please go right ahead.
I actually found out a decent amount of information from my friends and family for WoW but Lineage II and GW is still on the table. How is the population? People seem helpful? Decent amount of stuff to do? What makes these two different from WoW? (I know Lineage II has castles and sieging but whatelse?) Are they actually MMO with some good content and gameplay or are they Diablo clones? Well thanks for any information and opinions. Any links to sites would be helpful to narrow down the choices (fan sites that have more information about the game and not the game site itself). Thanks a lot! |

I'd like to get one of these, and I'm probably thinking guild wars right now, mostly because online play is free, and I really wouldn't like to get WoW now because I would be waaay behind.

I really don't care about being way behind in the levels and items areas. It is actually fun to make a name for yourself by going through and working with the people that have been around before. I would love to start out on a game that just came out that is a MMO and be one of the first to check out new areas but I guess I have to wait on new games to come out. |

I beta tested a little bit of guildwars and I didnt like that every zone outside the town is instanced so if you dont go with a party already, then you are out off luck, you need to make parties at towns and then enter to instances.
While WoW and Lineage II is a world server and you find people around.

Ive played all three games u stated. I love MMorpg. Well lineage 2 is good but takes way too much time. It took me like a while to get to lvl50 and its boring after that. World of Warcraft, definately a great game and i would play again. Unfortunately, i quit after making lvl56 rogue and i had no fun playing due to my friends quitting =(. Now i play guildwars and im loving it =D Play it too with no monthly fee

I'm currently playing both WoW and Guild Wars.
If you want an MMORPG, then play WoW.
If you want a game that doesn't seem to know what it's trying to be, then I still wouldn't recommend Guild Wars.
Let's just say that it's a good job Guild Wars doesn't charge a monthly fee. If it did, nobody would play it over games like WoW.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Seems like Guild Wars needs to work on what it actually wants to be but that's all right. Might try it later on if it sparks my interest. I'm looking for a definate MMORPG so if it's kind of borderline then it can go on the back burner for a while. Again, thanks. |

Lineage 2 -- GRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIINDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
Literally one quest is kill 100 of a mob
no real reason, just go out and kill 100
AND thats IF you can find a quest! VERY few quests to do in Lineage 2... god I hate that game LOL
Literally all you do to level is kill stuff, over and over and over. There is zero content in the game.. sure its pretty to look at... but pretty gets old after you're grinding for a few months and maybe level 40 if you live your life by the game.
Guildwars will be good if you like PvP.. there's little to no "RPG" to it.
WoW is by far my fave
Lineage 2, I could play for 30 minutes and start falling asleep.. you couldn't pay me to play that game again.
GW bores me, but I dont like PvP and like Washe I hate the way you have to party inside towns
WoW is a lot of fun, with a huge world to explore. Beware if you're a power gamer though, if you play for 20 hours a day you'll quickly get bored because you level fast. |

I played WoW in beta and I thought that it was ok. I know that some issues have been addressed but I hear from my friend that in towns and such it lags sometimes...plus you have to pay a monthly fee. Also, with my experience with WoW and GW, the graphics in WoW are lacking. I'm sure that WoW is bigger and offers more stuff to do but I still prefer GW for a few reasons. First off, I like the fact that nobody else is out when your doing a quest because then no one can just come right in after you kill everything and take the item and whatnot. Also, the community so far has been great and any issues have been addressed extremely fast by AreaNet (took 2 minutes to fix a bug that caused people not to be able to move when they entered the game). Of course, there's no monthly fee which is great in my opinion, and along with that, the game isn't as focused on leveling up as other MMORPG's (not saying WoW is or anything) since you only go to level 20. Also, there is a story in the RPG mode as you do the quests and enter different towns, you just have to make sure to follow it. Since the beta has been released a lot of stuff has been added and fixed and so far, as I said earlier, the community is great and I hope it stays that way instead of degrading itself like other games have. |
