Have you tried taking ownership of those files? Maybe you got a bug that chagned the ownership, ive seen it happen many times.
EDIT: Guess it doesn't make much difference now, but for future reference."Opinions not based on knowledge are ugly things"

Well I guess that my only option left is to reinstall windows
. At least it doesn't delete my BF2 and AA profiles. It does delete my Halo, Raven Shield, Doom 3, Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell, and quite a few other profiles
. My about 5 GB of other programs i'll have to reinstall will take a while, but getting back all my music will take the longest...reinstalling Windows is a pain.

I was under the impression you already did a reinstall.... If not, try what I suggested, take ownership of the files you cannot access
Right click on the file or folder, go to properties
Click on the security tap
Click on advanced
click on owner
select the user you want to change ownership too
click on the check box that says "replace owner on subcontainers and objects"
click on ok
Once you do that, see if you can access the files"Opinions not based on knowledge are ugly things"

If the above does not work, try a repair of windows before a reformat.

I will try the above, thanks for that. I have tried a repair, but Windows tells me it cannot see my hard drive...I need to install RAID drivers before installation, but my brothers computer doens't have a HD, i'll have to move mine over. Football has been taking up most of my time latley, but I get to take the day off today after injuring both my legs yesterday
.
-EDIT- I can right click on the folder i'm trying to access, but there is no security tab. On the tab that is closest to security (sharing), there is no advanced option.
-EDIT 2- Stupid ol me, not going into safe mode. I logged in as admin and managed to copy all my files to shared documents after gaining ownership. I saved 8.8 GB of music/videos/pictures/games from total deletation. Today is a good day.Last edited by TheForceUser; August 10th, 2005 at 04:33 PM.

Watch the language man. Do you have the latest drivers?

make sure you have unistalled the demo before you installed the real thing.
if you didn't remove the demo on time, then unistall the demo, then the full game, then update your sound card, mobo, and graphics card drivers, and THEN install the full game again

Ben-Jammin, so far you have 4 posts and two are breaking the rules. No foul Lang. You were warned and then do it again. You thinks it a joke? I guarantee you a mod will ensure you IT IS NOT. Stop it.
One thing Ive found is. Like BFME, Battle field two doenst like anything oclocked to far. Even if it passes prime 95 for days it may not be stable for these two games. So if you are clocking, take it back to stock first then give it a go.R.I.P. TKOP

I don't think that an AMD 3.4GHz exists, so you're definitely going too far with the OC.

Yeah, the closest AMD to 3.4 GHz is a FX-57 at 2.8, but you shouldn't be trying to overclock that.

what exactly is your error message? Did you find it? Inorder to fix the problem you have to first find, what exactly bf2 says as error. For that you have to set full screen mode to windowed so that you can find out. I have posted the whole procedure here: BattleField 2 - Fix Hope my informaion would be useful.

hasn't anyone learned by now how to use sata hard drives, personally if i was going to run games on a pc i would personall use a hard drive percificly for games and leave the OS hhard drive alone using it slows down the pc profomance...
if you have sata use it for gaming, as for mp3 storage i'd the same princible, sometime a driver update can fix annoying problem, a point to note always check the game update txt file to see what was fixed and see if the fix relates to your percific make and generation video card..

Ive set up gaming partitions, even seperate gaming drives. On a pukey slow pc it makes a good dif. One a clean OS system (not loaded with running apps, or crapware) and descent hardware, no diff. Now if one clutters their os with apps, running proggys at startup and doesnt keep spyware etc out. Welp, then a seperate OS drive helps. Bottom line, if you keep your OS nice and clean, using a second drive may gain 3-4% fps if your super lucky. Not worth the hassle IMHO. And lastly these games are aimed at running on the avg. hdd sustained data transfer or they simply would run horrid for 99% of their customers. And that would be ata100. sata is nicer, but if your pc skips bad when playing a certain game, that alone isnt gonna make it run silky smooth. (I have a sata 160gig samsung 8mb cache drive). Sata is nice int hat it fixes some errors on the fly, and that it has small cable. More bandwidth BUT the drives rpms dont allow that bandwidth to exceed ata100 muchless 150 like sata.

Some FYI for GeForce 4 users...
I just tried BF2 on my secondary rig (my wife is using the 6600GT machine...GRRR!!!).

XP Pro
XP2500+
1GB PC2700
GF4 Ti4200P Turbo (OC'd to 4600 levels) and I had to use the workaround just to get the game to load: http://www.shackbattles.com/wiki/ind...ash_to_desktop
It looks like total crap and the artifacts aren't worth the effort, so if your only machine is a GeForce 4 series card, you're going to have to upgrade.Although the workaround results in numerous graphical glitches, it will at least allow the game to run.

Of course, why do you think I'm letting her play on the best computer?

Her happy = me happy

I'd like to play BF2 though, so I'll probably load it up on the good machine this weekend...this is the first time my baby can't play a game [pats computer]. She's been good to me over the years.

Hello. I also bought BF 2 for my PC and I installed it successfully. However, complications begin to occur when I run the application. The screen blinks and goes through a series of black screens only to arrive back at the desktop. I am completely clueless as to what the problem could possibly be. Anyone who is willing to help, I thank you.
MY SPECS
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3800+
Memory: 1024 mb RAM
Chip: GeForce 6800 GT 256 MB
P.S As you can see, i mostly coppied the last message, but i have the same problem and i changed the specs.. Can any1 help me?
