CD-ROM vs. DVD Games
What is the difference in the cd-rom version and the dvd version of a video game? I am about to pick up a copy of bf2 and wanted to know what the difference was if any.

DVD Version is 1 DVD to install, and CD you'll need more then 1 CD to install the game

So is that the only difference?

Plus there are probably alot more patches included in the DVD-ROM's.
Unless ofcourse they were released at the same time.size=1 rocks

Unreal Tournament 2004 was the first game I bought that came on DVD (not sure what there was before that). Bottom line.... 6 CDs or 1 DVD, you be the judge on what you prefer.

I think Farcry was released overseas in DVD and not here. Can someone correct me on that?
So far i have seen UT2004, Half Life 2, FarCry, and now Battlefield 2 in DVD
expect more DVD games as the games get bigger

you can expect a lot more games on dvd now. games will be getting larger. now every gamer has at least a dvd reader so the dvd versions will be flying off the shelfs. you can expect those cd's to be around a while though
what? like a blue spider? get it off!

THANK GAWD for the DVD version of games. Just got done re-installing UT2004 (Which I have on CD) and hated the install process.
If you can, ALWAYS go for the DVD version. Multiple reasons, time saving - annoyance saving - space saving in your CD case... etc.
But other than that, they're the exact same thing. And thus it was spoken by the mighty Uss. And it was so.

July 16th, 2005, 10:02 AM #16I'm with you on that, I prefer DVDs anyday. EA games asked me when I pre-ordered BF2 which one and I told them DVD and they sent me a CD version. Why bother asking if they're going to send what they have?
