Thread: Recording gameplay

Hi, I was wondering if there is a program out there that will let me record the FEAR demo into some kind of format playable by windows media player. Preferably in some kind of high definition and it being free would be nice as well.
Thanks in advance.

Windows Media Encoder has the screen capture tool, I've personaly never used it, but I am looking forward to it, and yes, it is free.

what aout FRAPS,and TAKSI?
i heard some good things about TAKSI, but FRAPS is well known.

FRAPS is way too demanding, I've tried it in the past and the video recording is extremely choppy, the game is unplayable and the video is less or about 10fps...

FRAPS has a 30 second time limit unfortunatly, and TAKSI doesn't seem to record sound and, ideally, I would like something that would record the entire demo.
Any more suggestions guys?

If you get the registered version of FRAPS like the yours truely idiot did, then there is no time limit
Like I said, the best thing to try is Windows Media Encoder which is free

I just tried the windows media decoder and my fps in FEAR dropped from around 60 to 5->8 fps. Not good.

I think Gamecam is what you would need Simply move your FEAR demo icon into the profile manager and activate Gamecam. Then enter the game and you can tell it when you want to record the game. It saves an AVI file.
EDIT: Is this a movie or a playable demo? Gamecam is for the playable demo.

Video and audio out to a video recorder or, preferably, a dvd recorder may be a better option.

Gamecam only works on xp (I'm on 2k).
