    BF2 at 1280 x 1024????

I just got the 7800gt with bf2 bundle ... and for some reason the game doesnt support 1280 x 1024 resolution (my lcds native resolution ... people are telling me that you can mod a shortcut to get 1280x 1024 but i cant seem to get it to work. It doesnt show up in the video options ... could some kind soul explain to a computer illiterate bastard step by step how to change the resolution ....

Also ... is the game gonna run like a dream with a amd 4000+, 7800gt, and 1gb of corsair xms (cas 2) ... if not ... what can I tweak to get the best graphics and performance?

the first part of this page will show you how to find and edit the video.con file which will let you change the res. to 1280x1024. http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_7.html

With that rig I would try everyhtign on High detail. but BF2 is ram hungry so if it's not smooth enough than just turn texture quality, dynamic shadow, and dynamic lighting to medium. those are the most ram demanding options.

I have a similar specs are you (but a 3200+, but that doesnt really matter as bf2 doesnt really care about cpu speed) and I can't run everything on full. I actually started a thread about it earlier.

If you want full settings, gotta go for 2GB ram. I had to turn off FSAA (btw FSAA makes BF2 look GORGEOUS) and texture quality to stop the Hiccups from occuring.

PS you can just add a thing to the end of your shotcut that forces the 1280 resolution, that is what i did. Even though settings says 1024, when u go in game it always forces 1280.

You can't run at full settings? I only have a 3500+ and 6800gt and I have had no problem running on full graphic settings. Am I missing something here?
