| Connecting with Steam Problems?
Alright, well i wanted to start playing Half-Life 2 again since i finally had some time on my hands. So i try starting it up an Steam comes up and wants my password. So i type my password (I know it's correct) and get an error message that says, "Could not connect to Steam network." It's been happening for the last 3 days and still says the same thing. So, i went to Steams website and did everything it said to get Steam to work. I turned off all of my firewalls and it still says the same thing. I don't know what to do anymore. I use to like Steam but its starting to make me mad. If anyone has any idea what to do, please help me! |

Me thinks it was an update issue. Mine went away for some reason.

did you check internet connection?
did you ever give out or give a hint to anyone about your password?
(if you did i'm thinking that you got hacked)
did you check your screenname? |

Is your router blocking steam somehow?
Did you try power cycling your router to see if it worked?
You are, hopefully on broadband...right? o_o;
Throwing ideas... ^_^

1. Completely close out of Steam.
2. Go into your steam directory and delete your clientregistry.blob file.
Don't worry, it won't harm anything... Just re-type in your password after that. It should work again... A glitch w/ Steam that many people have faced.
(If you had entered a bad password it would've told you.)

Thanks for the post about renaming the clientregistry.blob file! It solved my connection problem and really should be in Steam's troubleshooting guide! |
