Ok, i have the same problem that the game crashes to desktop. I have been trying everything that have been listed in this thread and its still not work!! I also have AMD athlonXP 64 and windows XP sp2, maybe it is something with 64CPU but i have not read anything about it.. I had a software once that didnt work with my AMD64, but it was solved by entering some string in the programcode =) I hope someone soon will come with a solution, a patch or something..
Could you, who were able to start the game tell us wich cpu you´re using, please?
I have a Sapphire radeon 9250 GF Card with the lastest Omega driver, not the best card in the world but it should work.. |

I am having a similar problem...
Once I load up the game, it passes the beginning cinematic and then loads my player profile. Once I click OK, it will go to the main screen and within 3 seconds, it will crash. if i leave it alone, it will reboot my computer. If press Ctrl+alt+del, sometimes it will take me back to the desktop.
I have installed the latest nvidia drivers 81.95 (dec 9) and installed the last NFS:MW 1.3 patch. everything else is up to date.
P4 2.8C
WinXP SP2
1GP RAM
BFG 6600GT OC
The game installed perfectly and was running well for a few days. I haven't touched any other settings. What gives?! It started to crash a few times, now i can't even run the game. Safemode, i can get in, but it will crash after a while.
Help! |

Hi!.
I registered because I have a similar problem. The game starts fine, and I can play for about 5-8 min., but then it crashes to desktop. No messages, no debug info, nothing, only desktop :-( I think it isn't a cooling problem, because Windows works fine, and the computer continues working (doesn't restart).
I tried to re-install audio drivers (saw in another forum), play with medium settings, change resolution, reinstall the game, but nothing worked.
My computer:
AMD AthlonXP 3000+
1GB RAM
Radeon 9800Pro 128
Win XP Pro, SP2
Thanks in advance. |

Anyone still having problems might want to try changing CD/DVD's. Odd as it may seem, some just don't work right. I assume its down to either poor CD/DVD quailty or a glitch in their method of producing them.
Like Rase's problem. Won't work on his, but works on his friends perfectly. Yet he got a new DVD and all is well. Never seen a game act like this, so I wouldn't rule out bad media for many of the various problems people are encountering.
So, I'd recommend, returning the CD/DVD and asking for a new one. I'd imagine EA have had a lot of returns, and as such should replace them without issue. I'd also patch it to 1.3, as this addresses some of the issues EA claim.
I've checked the EA forums again, and they aren't saying a word, to basically any problem that people have relating to install/play issues. Not exactly a shining example of Customer Support.
i've still had no reply myself to the ATI shadow bug :/

Ok today i have tried following desperate steps:
1. Uninstalled the game and deleted the gamefolder
2. Clean windows registry with Registry Mechanic
3. Restarted windows
4. Run defrag on every drive
5. Run deep virus analyse with NOD32
6. Search for spyware with Ad-Aware
7. Serach for error and clean registry with XoftSpy
8. Clean unused files with System Cleaner
9. Restarted window
10. Re-Installed the game in a different folder
11. Patched the game with patch 1.3
12. Run the game
13. Game craches to desktop after the startlogo
Any idea? |

LISTEN PEOPLE if you tried and tried to install or run it but it has issues get up off your chair go down to the computer store you got the game from tell them you tried it out and it just wont work there is a 8 out of 10 chance its most likely your copy u got !!! sometimes it doesn’t install at all / sometimes it installs fine but maybe one file could be sound could be a small lil file that shows like 1 sec clip it might not have installed it might be there but stuffed up so
1 off your chair
2 get in your car / walk / catch a bus whatever
3 go to the store you got the cd from
4 ask them to change it over for a diff copy !!
5 if after all that it didn’t work try it again with a diff copy or on a diff pc
6 still have probs then its probably something with ur O,S
not CPU tho cas ive ran the game on intel / AMD runs fine !
hehe well hope that helped ! i know how annoying it can get
and someone said the bought a copy which didnt work but then they downloaded it while still having there orig copy i dont think there is anything wrong with that [ not sure tho ] but i would suggest changing ur copy
as for ppl who ran it for a few days and then all the sudden it didnt work well im guessing maybe u unlocked a new car or area / sound anything new the game needed try del ur profile from My Doc and run the game see wat happs ??
anyway best of luck

Hey i have the same problem. My game was working fine until just a week ago, I bought some new ram but i am pretty sure thats not the problem. After about 5-10 minutes of playing it crashes to desktop without and error report or debugging or message of any kind. I would appreciate some advice.
