Hi all!
I registered only to tell about my problem (similar to everybody's) and the solution I found.
Problem: Nothing related with overheating. In my case I usually play with the camera switched to "inside the car" mode. i don't know why, but this is making the game crashing when entering in another phase. That is, if I switch the mode to "outside the car" again (default mode) no problem is found and I can continue playing. Otherwise, the game crashes leading me again to the desktop without any notification.
Solution: Switch to "outside the car" mode and make a backup of the folder "NFS Most Wanted" (inside My documents) every time I win a race. The objective is to restore those achievements when forgetting to switch off the "inside the car" mode before saving (It seems that the saved files become corrupt when doing this). So, I switch it off before leaving the race mode when entering in the safe place in order to save game.
I hope that this helps most of you! |

Hey everyone I'm from India, and I think I know the cause of the problem, the problem is that I don't know how to solve it, if you will carefully notice that all those who have had problems playing NFSMW are using WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL/HOME EDITION SP2, No other configuration of this OS has had a problem with the game, so as I am to presume that it is a problem with the OS and the game files that are conflicting each other
in SP2. So before I go in for another version does anybody know to solve it ??? And did Sapam's, game work ??? There might be other causes but still this is a major one and it accounts for almost all cases over here. |

If Your Talking about the hack to inside the car, there was a warning that it would crash most of the time. i found a way to bypass it so it wouldnt, but i dont remember how. i think if you adjust the camera to much, the game will have to use more power to run it, and then it crashes. Quote:

| Crash to desktop and stalls at random times
G'day all. This thread makes for very interesting reading.
My NFSMW crashes to desktop sometimes but mostly it just stops with whatever was on the screen at the time. Sometimes it's during a race, sometimes while navigating menus such as saving, sometimes while adding parts etc to car in the workshop, sometimes during the beginning splash screens of the game. Sometimes I get to race for a while and complete some events, sometimes I get nowhere. When it stops, the picture simply freezes on screen and whatever sound was playing just continues, (ie the one particular note or engine sound just keeps holding). Sometimes the sound then stops but the picture is still frozen.
Also it seems to be getting more frequent as I progress through the game. I am now completing events for Blacklist number 6 and it is now crashing / stalling heaps.
Alt/F4 doesn't work, Ctrl/Alt/Del doesn't work. All I can do is press the restart button on front of PC tower. I have updated Nvidia driver, soundcard driver, Logitech G11 keyboard driver, Logitech G5 mouse driver. I've used RegCure and Advanced System Optimiser to clean and defrag the registry. I've tried disabling AVG antivirus, (but I make sure to turn off DSL modem). I've reinstalled the game.
System;
P4 3Ghz on ASUS P4S800 MX SE motherboard
Nvidia Geforce 6600 256MB, (soon to be replaced with 512MB Geforce 7600)
Creative Audigy 4 soundcard
Logitech peripherals mentioned above
80Gig HDD with plenty of space
1 Gig Ram
It plays other games sweet, although I have had some issues with Medal Of Honour Pacific Assault also. Other stuff my system plays nicely with no probs;
FEAR
FEAR Extraction Point
FEAR Perseus Mandate
DOOM3
Doom3 Resurrection of evil
Quake 4
Prey
Painkiller
Bioshock
Hmmm, now I notice that MOHPA is also an EA game. Perhaps EA is just crap. Perhaps no one has a magical answer for me but I thought I'd share my problems with you also.
Cheers
Forrykook
I've also patched the game to 1.3.
Also tried to set desktop resolution to 800x600 before starting game.
I just went to uninstall the game again and found that it was not in the Add/Remove programs dialogue box. So I reinstalled it and tried to play...it crashed. I then uninstalled and reinstalled. It crashed. it won't even load up now, it hangs when my profile is loading.

I have 3 drama's:
Need for speed Underground 2;
Anywhere between start-up and 10 minutes in, it exits to desktop, speed.exe has
encountered a problem, or unidentified problem and has to close.
Most wanted;
Same as Underground 2.
Carbon;
Doesn't even get to Menu... EVER, before flashing a blue screen and returns to desktop.
Win 98 Compatability mode not to save me on this one.
These are all genuine games, with discs, I'm not running any cracks, patches or anything. Just installed them last night, and none of them work.
Intel E6850 core 2 duo
Nvidia GeForce 8600 512 MB
2 Gig 800MHZ ram
Gigabyte p5 sreies Motherboard
Vista Ultimate
Any other details required please ask me snakeyr89@hotmail.com
Cheers, Snakey. |
