I have somewhat related problem with Freedom Fighters also. When I installed it first time it was working perfectly. but after quitting the game when I started it, I could listen the sound of "EA GAMES challenge everything", and it displayed only black screen, not any single picture. and the it went to not responding until i closed it from task manager.
I even reinstalled the game but it didn't work. Even when i reinstalled XP SP2, It didn't work the first time after installation of the game.
I would appreciate if any one help me. |

For the "crash to desktop" problem, I found a solution.
Load a race from the safe house and when the race starts choose "quit to free roam".
then try changing the safe house (choose a different from where your car was parked previously) to park your car.
This worked for me, may be it will help others as well.

Problem: Nothing related with overheating. In my case I usually play with the camera switched to "inside the car" mode. i don't know why, but this is making the game crashing when entering in another phase. That is, if I switch the mode to "outside the car" again (default mode) no problem is found and I can continue playing. Otherwise, the game crashes leading me again to the desktop without any notification.
Solution: Switch to "outside the car" mode and make a backup of the folder "NFS Most Wanted" (inside My documents) every time I win a race. The objective is to restore those achievements when forgetting to switch off the "inside the car" mode before saving (It seems that the saved files become corrupt when doing this). So, I switch it off before leaving the race mode when entering in the safe place in order to save game.
I hope that this helps most of you! | this worked for me.
thanks PCNACHO
but it kinda annoying to be switching camera modes before i beat a blacklist member or jump to safe house.
EA need fi sort out dat |

I think i know what is the problem. You know, i got the Need for speed underground 1 and 2 in my computer and i didin't need all of what you installed on your computer, the graphics and the programs, you don't need all thoses. I have an old video card and it runs Ok on my computer. Your problem is that your entire system may be an ''out-of-date'' system. You need a program that put your system back on updates because you probably don't have the lastest updates on your system (probably your video card, sound card, graphics card are out of date because you don't have the updates for them). I recommend you to install this program that i use since a long time ago and works every time (it is UNIBLUE DRIVER SCANNER 2009). it scans all your processors and will tell you witch of them are out of date, the you will have to click on download all to download the lastest updates for your drivers.
Is this help you? If not, write back and i will get some new info to help you.

uhmm, it's actually against forum rules to help/assist/discuss the use of illegal software.
But to give you a hint, here are a few pointers:
1: You are running XP with 512MB ram, upgrade to at least 1GB
2: You are using an onboard chipset, which uses system ram
3: The onboard chipset you are using is old, and really not suited for this game.
4: The P4 2.66Ghz isn't all that great in games either, especially when combined with such an onboard chipset.
Get the game original, it is older now and shouldn't cost too much.
And please, just use normal lettering, a lot easier on the eye.
