Patch 1.03 is now available to download! This patch adds the anti-cheat
protection of PunkBuster(TM), as well as vote/kick functionality to
multiplayer matches, a brand new multiplayer map, opens the previously
exclusive in-game content to all players (insignias, skins), adds an
update to the SDK, makes some minor bug fixes, and adds other multiplayer
voting features. Patch 1.03 will be required to play online multiplayer.

Multi-player for FEAR is very difficult to get into in comparison to HL2. I was excited to play FEAR multiplayer but after a few rounds it just seems a little....well boring. Maybe Im missing something...
