Micro$$$$oft forcing ppl to buy the HD
im sure all you imo's are up to date on all the techie news, but if you havent heard, after the announcement that the ps3 will come with a HD standard, it seems that microsoft is killing off their core system option, and are pressuring 3rd party developers to make their games require the HD, in effect forcing those without the HD to go out and buy it for 100$, as much as they would have spent of the deluxe system bundle, but without the other perks.
what will they thinkof next???
down with microsoft!!!!!!!!!!!

That doesn't matter, it just prevents people from getting suckered into buying the core system... on the whole it makes things easier for devs since it standardizes the system.
Mr. Jiggyfly, I have good news...

Anyone who buys a console deserves to lose his... That may be a bit harsh. I suggest that if you dont like it dont buy consoles.

Thats silly, in some other countries the ammount of people getting core systems and deluxe systems is like 50/50 so they'l be a big outrage there probably.
Lets hope the best games don't need the HD especially as it may hurt the 3rd parties sales of their game which would be a shame.
And no1, i can't say i blame people for buying a 360, look at the price of that compared to a PC which meets the recomended settings, particularry if you don't build your own. Of course you need an HD TV really but then most people will pay for it anyway because they want the best TV out there.

the core system is pointless, so I see no problem with ms "forcing" people to use the better model
Good job, friend-of-friends!

Overall I'd agree this would be a better option, but a lot of people won't be happy.

I don't see a problem with it either really. Its not like those that bought the core system are screwed, they can go get a hard drive. Its no different than a new game coming out that requires more powerfull PC hardware than what you have, if you want to play it, you have to have the hardware.

Ya, I would agree, having 2 setups was pretty bad...but for the people that will never go online with it, and mabey play once a week using games that don't need a hdd, the core system isn't too bad of a deal...its just to bad that the people that didn't know the difference got screwed over.

Unfortunately I cant find any OFFICIAL press release on the M$ site. Until I see it there I will consider this a rumor.
flyguyspy's article at The ddstuff link from above cites a link that seems to be truncated and I cant get it to work.

There won't be an official press release for this unless MS are trying to commit suicide.
I hope this isn't true anyway, I bought the more expensive system with the HDD but in the end I wish I hadn't.
The HDD is tiny, not much content to go on it as well and Live isn't my thing either. The only worthy addition was the wireless controller but I could have bought the core system and with the money I saved bought two wireless controllers and still had enough money to go at least half way to purchasing a game.

The core should have never been released and you shouldnt have bought one unless you had major problems finding a premium and wanted to play a game asap. Its not a big deal if the core goes away.
Also it seems this thread was started with intent to bash microsoft in the first place. Most of you guys are so fanboyish in your ways that youll say you hate the xbox without ever playing anything on it.
btw removing the core is good for everyone involved.

Methinks Microsoft are trying to correct a most greivious error, known as the Core System.
The Core System was a poor idea, and should never have come to fruition. Rather like Windows ME.

April 3rd, 2006, 03:51 PM #17Why would I want half a game? And 13 gigs is pretty tiny. Xbox Live allows you to download game demos right? Well I can imagine those would fill up 13 gigs pretty fast. There are larger hard drives, right?Hmmm tiny? 13 gigs, in terms of consoles thats tiny? I think your wrong and if your storing music on it, why? Just stream it from your pc. the ps3 HD will be 60gigs. now thats a decent amount of space. 20gigs seems limiting to say the least.
yeh im not the biggest microsoft fan, but im not going around bombing their offices or anything. ps3 is going to roc the socks off the 360 tho.
