    $85 for ps3 games?

    Willing to shell out $85 for a PLAYSTATION 3 game?

    IGN reports that Japanese PS3 game prices will likely be between 8,800-9,800 yen range ($75-85 USD). Japanese site Impress Watch has also reported that the reason behind the projected prices, which are high compared to the cost of the average PS2 game in Japan (6,800 yen), is due to slower-than-expected third party development for the upcoming platform.

    In addition, the article projects that Sony will try to de-emphasize the 60 GB model of its newest console and shift focus onto the 20 GB SKU, which may explain a recently-announced price decrease for that model in Japan.

    So far, this has no impact on the American pricing for the system or software, at least not at the present time. Sony has yet to announce exact shipping estimates of the SKUs for either region.

    Well, the prices should go down after the BR-D format becomes more common...if it does.

    This news doesn't surprise me. $85 = £44, and a few games have come out at that price. Thus, it's only natural that Sony'll think it's okay to ship all games at that price, regardless of quality.

    Yea, I have a feeling they will go no higher than 70 myself. I just wanted to post this article as words of Sony themselves. Because when you consider they dropped the base ps3 price over seas and keep the price of games that high, our games might be that high as well

    HAHAHAHAHA who would have guessed that making something so hard to program for would turn off developers?

    PS3 = down the hole.

    And I don't believe that. A: All the good ones will probably cost more and B: Why would it be ~30 bucks cheaper in the US? That would cause fury over in other countries.

    Civil war in Japan over Sony... Maybe it'll be on PPV!

    It would only make it if each side uses super hot chicks wearing barely nothing!

    Can't wait...Call of Duty 3 is a must for me . I don't remember asking this before, but does anyone know if the PS3 will produce a mouse and keyboard if a standard USB mouse and keyboard will work? I hate playing FPS's with a controller.

    I would imagine that like the PS2 a standard USB mouse and keyboard will work.

    Hmmm...I never knew that. I thought the PS2 could only work with something Sony created or something gaming specific. I might just give it a shot. Never tried to plug up a mouse and a keyboard to my PS2. It probably would have made a bunch of my FPS games more fun. I'm going to give it a try a little later on. Thanks.

    The mouse and keyboard support is only for typing.

    I highly doubt developers will ever add support for them in games for a console...it would just be too smart.

    No they aren't. There were a few games that allowed the use of the keyboard. Not many supported a mouse though. I used my keyboard for many hours/days/months playing EQOA.

    I just looked ont he back of my two FPS games for PS2 and they both say that they support USB keyboard and mouse. The games are Half-Life and Red Faction 2. I never took noticed to the keyboard and mouse support, nor thought about using one on a console. That will definitely be the FIRST thing I look for before purchasing another FPS on console again .
