Steam error that is pissing me off

Personally i hate steam, but it about the only program I will use to find servers for Counter Strike and other games. BUt recently it hasn't worked.

When i run steam it loads up fine and everything, but when i go to launch a game, say Half Life or COunter Strike i get an error the error says ...... " SteamStartup(0xf,0x12fb60) failed with error 108: The Local Steam Service is not running." How do I go about fixing this, I have reinstalled three times and also tried two different accounts. Nothing seems to fix this.

What else really sucks and valve will do nothing about it is that my steam account is on a ban, i cannot go into protected servers for any game. I haven't used any hacks or scripts ever in my life. I logged in one day and am banend from vac protected servers. This is great, i bought the Half Life 2 gold package and now i can't get the full benifits.

You dont remember being banned from a certain server for whatever reason?

Have you tried asking on the steam forum?

I have never hacked or anything of that sort that is illegal. The most modification I ever had was a spray, not gross or pornography, just my clans logo

That seems to have fixed it, thank you. Its weird i did a search onthe fourms before for error 108 exactly like you did and i got nothing except some cyber cafe stuff.......
