Windows XP Prof. Crashes in middle of game

I'm trying to run one of my old favorite games I just found in storage, Jane's WWII Fighters. Everything seems fine for a few minutes but then theres a buzzing sound through the speakers and the computer reboots. What causes this and is there a patch available??? Help please, I really love this game and want to play it again.

I got it figured out. Dumbed down the graphics a bit and took out some of the special effects and it seems to run just fine now.
