I'd venture to say your first instinct is right....try downloading it again (gotta wait again for the 600MB to download
) and see what happens.

You're not running Win ME are you? The newest EVE DL isn't supposed to run on ME for some reason.

Eve is now XP only, according to CCP.
Mining barges: Never buy a Procurer. They are a waste of time and isk.
I don't mine in my Hurricane. In fact, I really don't do anything in it. I just bought it because it looked nice.

Heh, I bought a Moa a while back. What an ugly gorilla
I guess "Bird caught in fishing line" was too long.
I'm skilling everything I use in Gunnery and related to V. People say it takes too long but I know people who've been there for years who don't have Gunnery skills at 5, so it will hopefully give me a little edge.
I wish someone would flickr some good high res, well lit screen caps. For some reason people keep posting screen caps without the high res option. Even the ones that are half decent, you have to go through a laborious process to see a particular pic.

I could take some screenprints. I have my settings MAXED (with additional graphics settings enabled via the .ini file). Question tho, how can I remove all the menus and chat boxes from the HUD to get a clear screen for a capture?
UPDATE: Nevermind, found it. Ctrl+Tab or Ctrl+F9 apparently
I'll try when I get home tonight.

Something i hate is how everybody uses the newbie help channel as a "general chat" channel.

I hear ya on the help channel, I usually have to ask a legit question 3-4 times.
I think most people say training gunnery skills to V is a 'waste' because there are other skills you could train that would help you more than that last 3% medium turret dmg or whatever. For instance, improving your tank. While not directly related to gunnery, staying alive longer = more time to shoot. For gunnery I'd say Gunny 5 is a must, as well as Sm/Med/LG so that you can get the nifty Tech 2 guns... they are worth it when you start running into tech 2 frigs or battlecruisers in missions.Phenom xII Black edition 3.2 // Nv 250 1GB // 4 GB 1033

That's why I said gunnery + related
Anything fighting / defense related. Looking at the T2 small & medium rails the negatives outweigh the positives for me. If they are going to have T2... like the T2 shield boosters, they have realistic negatives but are definitely better... but T2 ammo has penalties that are just silly, heck, that's hardly a more advanced technology in my eyes. The actual T2 rail turrets have the exact figures that the good T1 stuff does except the T2 needs more power
If you've done the tutorial and aren't still asking questions about that stuff, just switch to the other help channels.

The T2 turrets dont necessarily do anything at all except allow you to use the T2 ammot, which besides the penalties, are SIGNIFICANTLY stronger. When you hear people doing 2000+ damage in one volley from their weapons, they are definitely using T2 ammo

The T2 item differences are small on paper but they make a large difference in actuality. I hardly have any T2 items but some of the mods I've used that are T2 really did help (i.e. Miner II's vs Miner I's)YAH! I knew you'd be jealous

I got the client istalled and Im trying the 14 day trial out now. My characters name is Cheif Astartes (and the misspelling is on purpose). Even doing the tutorial I found myself enjoying the game. Thats more than I can say for any other MMO Ive played, besides Planetside.

I just issued my first contracts... this kind of forethought makes the game great. I don't feel like jumping to BFE, so I make a contract for basically how much I think it's worth to me, getting someone to courier the ammo/missiles/whatever to me

Interesting! So explain it to me a little uethello, you can just open a contract for anyone to pickup and upon completion you transfer the ISK to them? Awesome
I obviously haven't played much with the contract system so I'll try to check this out tonight. What system are you in btw? Maybe do some ratting in the future.
Also: I took some pics of my Tristan last night but didn't have time to size em down for appropriate posting. I'll uploaded them tonight or tomorrow once I make them a little smaller (not 5MB each)Last edited by Tekk; April 20th, 2007 at 04:00 PM.

Well another note on the T2, it 'says' my T2 proj ammo will slow me down but the penalty is actually 0%. so make sure you check the stats. I mostly play in isendeldik with my corp if you're interested.

Yeah, don't have to be in station either, open the contracts tab and at the top click "Create Contract". I've only used courier but both of them were filled and my stuff was in station roughly in the time it took me to finish one mission. The money is removed upon contract creation and handed over on completion.
I'm grinding missions out of Gallareue right now (only one station there) with a security agent Lvl1 Qual 2. I'm probably going to pull out soon and get a higher quality agent. How are you playing? I mean, are you mining, missions, PvP, etc?Last edited by uethello; April 20th, 2007 at 07:02 PM.

I do mostly missions myself, and do some logistics for my corp (building and mining etc) with my alt and another corp mate. We're both in L3's so it's nice when something like the blockade comes up (as it did 20 mins ago) and we can power through it for 2 mil in bounties a piece

Im not PvP'ing but Im dabbling in everything else. My first Thorax was blasted to smitherines as I mentioned in one of my previous posts above....so since then I purchased an Exequror to help out in my Corp's mining expeditions and do some mining of my own in high-sec space. I figured I'd really need to work on my skills before running higher level missions and such. So in the meantime I could make some isk mining

But recently I've been working on building my standings with a new NPC corp so we could get jump clones. So L1 missions unfortunately
Just about reached L2 now thanks to the Connections and Social skills but its been a long road.
