Nobody knows if there will be a price drop on the X360.
However it is quite heavily rumored that a new version of the X360 will be coming out. Nobody knows when though.

Well... I too have been waiting. There's always problems with the first launch. X360, PS3 has now followed blah, blah, blah. But "supposedly" a new xbox 360 is coming out. So, if you've waited this long, why not wait longer? Who knows what even more exciting goodies will be out by then?
Plus you can laugh at everyone who thinks their Pro systems are tops and be like "Yeah I can play in HDMI, with a bigger HDD, and faster cpu too!"
I believe this new 360 would clost $500, and then the core would drop $100 in price and the pro systems would drop to that current of the core.
Just my two cents, but IMO, if that HDMI 360 DOES indeed come out and you'll be able to play in 1080 resolution, would that be cool or what? |

I'll probably get one after the release of Halo 3.

HDMI is stupid. Component can display 1080P just like HDMI can, except to use HDMI, if the system requires it(don't think the X360 does, but w/e), your monitor must support HDCP.
The CPU would in no way be faster either. |

Hmm... Guess it depends on who you ask then. There's been some absolute horror stories out there about the first launch titles. And everywhere I've read it said a better/faster cpu would be included.
I remember the cheap Thompson drives in the original xbox, hehe. |

Why the hell would they include a faster cpu?
First off, they are trying to cut costs, using a different (faster) cpu is vastly going to increase production costs....Also, why would they screw over previous owners?
That would mean newer systems might be able to play some games smoother and what not if programmed for the new x360.
It's just not going to happen.....

Better cpu? Yes, if rumors are true.
Faster cpu? No.
Lowing to 65nm manufacturing should be much better for it. Less power consumption, and less heat output. But it will not make it any faster.
And we remember the big problem Intel had going to 90nm with their Prescotts, the 130nm's before them(Northwood) ran much cooler and used much less power than the Prescotts did.
If the same type of thing would happen to the manufacturing for MS, they would either delay the release and get it to work right, or simply not move to 65nm. |

I've heard talk of moving to a smaller manufacturing process also, but this is to be expected as the manufacturing process matures. The PS3 is about to make a similar move with it's CPU.

would they necessarily price drop with some basic redesign of the system's internals that doesnt really change anyting.
i understand if there were a bigger hard drive and built in hd-dvd, maybe astehtic changes...
i would wait for that for sure.
but i want one so bad...
if MS does take that course and a month or two from now there is one i will FREAk the !@*$$#@*$#@*@#)$@* out! |
