Sweet Ramon, I was kind of thinking about making my own server too. Just never got the chance because it was only BETA.
But I'll check yours out for sure. That game is pretty bad ass.
I'll be under the same name also
Also will probably bring a couple of friend in there with me...
Have they released a UNIX client yet??Q6600@4Ghz | i7 920@4.4Ghz |E6320@3.5Ghz

Is this Quake 5 or an expansion to 4? Or a whole new game? IIRC, the end of Quake 4, one of the characters metioned something like "this is just the beginning" or "it's not over yet" or some such line.

Finally got around to d/ling it. Decent game, and considering my cpu just meets their CPU requirements, (2.8 p4 overclocked to 3.06), it runs damn well (30+ fps consistent) at med-high settings @ 1024x768. It is definitely more gpu based, as my modified and oc'ed x800pro is stressing on this one. 2gb of ram definitely helps though
But I feel it's really nothing special..just another team based FPS.Main PC: AMD FX-8350 / 16gb DDR3 1600 / AMD 7970GE 1200mhz Core & 1600mhz Mem / Win7 Pro 64bit

Gamers hell has some reliable high speed links as well

(only took half an hour on my connection to download last night/early this morning, around 1AM-ish Central time
)
Right now their all jam packed, but late at night or early morning hours can usually find many of the mirrors at less than 40% capacity

No wonder so many people were annoyed that its nothing more than a BF2 clone... because thats all it is

spent 10 minutes setting up the game, jacking up the graphics options, jump into it, & immediately I recognized the BF2 mini map, with class selection & all that, even more so noticeable once you jump in the game itself, graphics look exactly the same, control is close to it, etc etc etc...
basically its a BF2 with a Quake theme is all...
oh well, may still play it later if I get bored

I just have to say, ET was out long before BF2, which in regular ET you have roles also. So I don't really compare the two there.
Also, most FPS anymore have the mini map on them. So I can't see it's just a BF2 thing there either.
Then there is the controls, which to my knowledge almost all PC FPS controls are just about the same. I know FEAR is about the same, ET is the same(obviously) AA is the same, Far Cry is just about the same too. The list could go on and on.
So I don't think it's copying BF2 in any way. Just most of the similarities are across the board for many games anymore...
Does the Beta still work? I would try it, but my main rig is down now. I'm just curious...Q6600@4Ghz | i7 920@4.4Ghz |E6320@3.5Ghz

Ahhh, yeah... I realize that...
I'm not some FPS noob... been playing the damn things since Wolfenstein first came out...
but thats not what i'm saying... I'm not some BF2 fanboy who thinks its the only game out there & everyone else copies it
(I don't play BF2 very often at all, more of a Joint Operations International Conflict Mod "regular")
try the game demo & you'll see what I'm talking about... (assuming you've played BF2?)
original ET used the engine Return to Wolfenstein used... this one just doesn't feel or look like the Quake 4 or Doom 3 engine at all.
when playing the game it feels & looks way too much like BF2, just plays a bit faster is all with new weapons, vehicles & objectives.
I've played both ET games, & this just doesn't feel like the original ET to me.
I've played BF1942, Vietnam, BF2, 2142, etc, & to be honest this "new" game just feels way too much like it. not saying its a bad game overall, but it just feels/looks like another BF2 mod is all. whether it uses similar game engines or whatever.
I can see why there is such a heated debate & arguing going on between ET & BF2 players...

To me it plays exactly like ET played. Just some updated graphics. Otherwise same base classes, same types of rewards, same types of objectives...
It is pretty fun and actually runs well on my PC which is a shocker. Too bad I can't get it to join any online games.

This game is worth getting simply because it doesn't have the terrible programming BF2 had. Quake Wars is actually playable with 200 ping when I have P2P running in the background, unlike BF2, which is absolutely unplayable at 100 ping. I'm also surprised with how smoothly this game runs since the graphics are, in my opinion, pretty damn good.
Thank god id started making this kind of game. I'll never need to play another sloppily written EA game."I'm hung like a horse and will kill you for no reason."
