Enable Vsync in RtC Wolfenstein
If you want to enable Vsync in RtCW, use the following console commands:
\r_displayrefresh x (where x is equal to your refresh rate, 85 in my case)
\r_swapinterval x (toggle Vsync on/off with 1 or 0 instead of x)
I'm not sure if you have to also enable Vsync in OpenGL in your driver software. It's set to "on by default" in my GF3 control panel anyway.
I did this as I hate tearing but found the game wasn't as smooth on my machine, I still prefer it enabled though.
I'm pretty sure this will also work for Quake3 but I've left it disabled in Q3 on mine as my maxfps is set to 90 (which affects internet connection and game physics) and my refresh rate is 85 (I've also left it disabled in RTCW multiplayer, single and multi have individual configs). Plus strangly, I never notice tearing in Q3 but noticed it quite a lot in RTCW (same resolution and colour depth).
I also found that \cg_fov (view angle, defaults to 90) works if you do it from the main menu. It's cheat protected in-game. I set it to 100 and 110 in Quake3.
Oh yeah, another tip - if you enter a cvar command (like \cg_fov) in the console without a value at the end, it tells you what the current setting and the default setting is.

I've disabled it again As I got further into the game it just seemed to get more jerky. Bizarre how V-sync could make the Quake3 engine cough and splutter like that. At least I'm less concerned about the slight tearing now as it's nice and smooth again.
