If you think a 300 ping is not a factor the only person who doesn't know what they're talking about is you. What exactly do you think latency is?

Dude! I have had a 300ms ping and had no lag! In fact may times! In many games!!! Do you need a video? Why would I mention it? You obviously didn't read what I said about the type of connection one may have.. and all the factors that may cause problems.
That is correct, it's called latency, but if your line is good and you are pinging hinger than 300 you will notice...
If anyone thinks they need a super ass low ping to play a game correctly, then they are a fool! Usually the little sht noobs..

A video is not going to tell us anything buddy. 300 ping is horrible. There is a very noticable lag between the time you press the mouse button to shoot, and the time to hit your target. There is a reason people desire low pings, and it certainly isn't becuase they don't know what they're talking about or because it makes no difference. There is also a reason some servers will even kick you if your ping is anywhere near 300 and again, that reason isn't becuase it doesn't make a difference.
Personally, when my pings get much past 110, I notice. |

You can't tell me what my experiences are in a game playing with a 300ms ping. Why wouldn't a video not prove otherwise. If I have lag, it will be recorded.
The factors of a low ping means you are able to get that split second hit on a guy (Big deal), also if everyone had 300 ms pings, then there would be a server slow down.
BTW- My ping isn't always 300. It depends on where that server is located at.. |

A video won't tell us anything unless you have VERY severe lag. If you have a ping that's just too high, the person that notices is the one behind the mouse and keyboard because you know when you're pressing the button and when you're seeing something happen on the screen. That won't show up in a video.
I'm not doubting YOUR experience, but lets call it what it is. YOUR experience. To make a blanket statement that a 300 ping won't make a difference is nothing short of wrong. That's like the idiots that insist that humans can't tell the difference between 30 and 60fps, when indeed there is a huge difference.
That split second of lag is to me and most gamers annoying and unacceptable if they have better options. |

Lag will show up in a video, I.E, the jerky players, etc.. Do you want that in 30fps or 60 fps?
The 300ms ping time hasn't nullified my ability to shot anyone... That's all I'm saying. A ping time of 300 would still enable you to play the game, but if your Internet connection isn't great, your bandwidth is consumed, or you are playing a server located in say, Uzbekistan, then your gonna have problems. "Hardcore gamers" will proabbly want to play servers that offer lower ping times. In COD4 you can check by clicking server info. below... |

Yes, jerky players will show up in a video, that's what i said, severe lag will show up in a video, jerky players is severe lag. I also told you what will not show up in a video, and that is delay in input. Funny you say pings don't matter, then you start off listing things that do matter which interestingly enough, have a direct affect on pings. The reason playing on a server in Uzbekistan isn't desirable isn't simply because the game doesn't like that country, it's because a server that far is going to have high pings, pings are a measure of latency. See the connection yet?
If you want to believe pings don't matter so be it. Start spreading the word to all the gamers out there that pings don't matter and see the reaction you get. |

omfg! I know what a ping is!
There is confusion or should I say forum fog..
What it boils down to is that I can still kick other players ass's using a 300ms ping. There - is - no - lag!

I had the exact same problem, I found out what it was, I was so stupid I had to have the latest drivers for everything so I went out and downloaded the wrong driver for my motherboard. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the correct driver but nothing made a difference so I reinstalled xp and the correct driver and everything worked perfect. Perhaps you did the same thing idk but that's what worked for me. |
