age of empires 3
i recently bought a new computer it has vista and im trying to install aoe3 it loads the installshield wizard and gets stuck on "configuring windows installer"and after about 5 mins it gives the code 1611 unable to extract the file anyone had a similar problem that could help me out thanks

I believe that error code refers to "component file not found," meaning InstallShield doesn't recognize one or more of the game files.
Try right-clicking on setup.exe (or similar name, it will be on the disc) and set it to run in compatibility mode for Windows XP under the properties window. that may help.
Another possibility is that you just have a bad disc, this can be verified by attempting to install the game on another computer.Good job, friend-of-friends!

I've had Age of Empires III for some time, along with the two expansion packs. I recently upgraded to Vista Home Premium 64-Bit from Xp Pro. The core game and all the expansion packs installed and ran the same as they did with XP. I would look at your disc and take it from there. I'm with Tony, sounds like a bad disc.
