sense i was using 7900 card i assume i do not have it, did check the rev on the 9800 gtx card here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130339
and they were all good and it seams like a good card specialy as people upgrading from 8800 to this one, as long as my Age of Conan will run smooth heh. |

So no worries on that. |

| Here is my computer Specs, I see one mistake i made already, I only got 2 gig of ram not 3 as I previously said, not sure how I managed that I thought I had 3 untill now when i checked. anyhow here is all my computer specs
System Manufacturer: INTEL_
System Model: DG965WH_
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 2030MB RAM
Page File: 592MB used, 3329MB available
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS
Sound: SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio [1000]
Model: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-107D
Model: QO5419N WKB815M SCSI CdRom Device
not sure what pagefile is but i linked it anyhow,
and i checked my PSU unit and i do have an unused 6 slotters to plug into a new card if needed.
Think the 2 gig instead of 3 would be a problem? it's 2, 1 gig sticks room for 2 more later on, but you shuld still be able to run a 9600 or 9800 with it I assume.

| The ram/system memory has little to do with whether you can run the card or not, 2GB is more than enough, though for running Vista, you might want to bump that to 3GB or maybe even 4 if you can.
as to your PSU, yes You have 2 6 pin PCI Express connectors, one on your current 7900GS, & one spare one, if you get the 9800, you'll need to connect both, but for the 9600, only one is needed.
the Page file you listed, is the amount of Hard drive space being used for temporary system memory... the more RAM you have the smaller the page file generally is (actual amount used)... you can specify the max amount to use too, with in windows, but many generally like to leave it up to windows to decided the max amount of drive space to use.
and that link I posted on the first or 2nd page of this thread, the same exact one john just linked to above, is one of the best deals online for a 9800GTX right now, plus even better yet, its an eVGA brand, one of the best on the market, & also you should be able to enroll in their step up program, which basically allows you to trade in your "old" card & move up to a newer one, & just pay the difference in price between them... so, say you bought a new 9800GTX for $300 now, & in the fall they came out with their new series card, thats a good bunch more powerful, for say $350... more or less you pay $50 more & trade in old card, & you get a new one...
its a bit more than that, but thats the jist of it... http://www.evga.com/stepup/default.asp

Oh, that sounds quite interesting.
Never heard anything like it with cards, as they tend to be changed out quite frequently, just wonder why they would like to loose money as the only guarantee they have is that you will get a new card from the same company.
but not me against, sounds like a good deal and I've bought cards from them before and think there cards are pretty good too. |

| well don't know about losing money, have to read the Terms and Conditions for the Program first to get an understanding of how it works though... there actually is quite a few definitive conditions & restrictions that have to be met/maintained to take advantage of it though... http://www.evga.com/stepup/default.asp?switch=2
but pretty sure most of the returned cards are checked over & then "stamped" as recertified (refurbished) if they were cleaned up & fixed, then retailers like newegg & others can sell them again as Recertified cards for lower than retail pricing...
a year & half or more back I picked up an eVGA 7800GT (so I could run SLI with my XFX 7800GT), factory OC'd & for about $160-170, when that card was still going for $200-250 retail online... the newer 7900GT's had already been out for a while & were still in the $250 range as well... a few months later, newegg was offering more of that recertfied model of card for closer to $130...
usually if I see any "recertified" cards online their most likely eVGA models, I rarely, if ever, see XFX or other brands like that... but that'd be my guess as to what happens to the returned cards, more or less its a sort of recycling & reconditioning program, & pretty sure eVGA gets some nice tax deductions/credits for their program & its impact on helping the environment...

| Is there a way to check your speed on your Ram memory without having to take them out? |
