Does anyone know of a good combat flight simulator that features the F-104 Starfighter, as well as many other of the era and more modern aircraft?
Either that or a good way to run Jane's ATF on Windows XP...

Well I don't know of any simulators with an F-104 directly integrated. But if you just buy a simulator like FSX there's bound to be a mod. There are massive numbers of planes available for download for flight sims. I'm running CFS3 on an P4 system i have and i have downloaded maybe 20 planes. Even the millenium falcon no joke there! |

Does the CFS engine work well with supersonic jet aircraft? I was under the impression they were for WWII era aircraft. An ME-262 isn't exactly a challenge for an F-104, even if it didn't maneuver well.
Also, do any simulators have the F-84H Thunderscreech? It was kind of an odd experimental aircraft. |

Yah, it is WW2 craft and there are no supersonic effects, etc. but you can go fast without glitches. I have tried the korean war mod, and in a dive i've gotten about 1200mph. In regards to oppponents...they probably don't have guided missiles for it so missile interceptors like the F104 don't really stand a chance(the game is based around dogfihting). Though there is one website "Avhistory"??(i think) that has a series of weapons packs for various mods and downloads such as extremely large bombers. I remember it was required for an A-10 (which i didn't get to work) and one of them might include missiles of some sort.
I don't know about a lot of flight sims. I have only owned microsoft ones and they didn't have the F-84 in it( it was a cool plane). But if you want to see if it's a mod...just look up CFS3 mods on google. Sim-outhouse has been my number one resource. |

Jane's USAF has it I believe, but it does not like XP.
Edit: It has the F-105 Thunderchief (Wild Weasel), not sure if it has F-104.

This is one, me & my brother used to play for a while, bought it after I got my first flightstick & throttle set up, a Saitek X45... if I remember right we did use the F-104 a few times in that game, & I think my brother even downloaded some new additional aircraft to use a few times as well? I'll have to check these out. I'm also thinking about Xplane 9. It looks like it has a lot of extras. I hope my hardware can run it. |
