Call of duty 1 and expansion script problem

I installed this game on a pc and when I play the game suddenly some of the AI's freeze
standing up. I can't get past some levels without downloading a savegame. Can't load some savegames as the game complains they are saved using a different set of scripts...

I installed and reinstalled the game at least a half a dozen times so that shouldn't be the problem.
I have the same problem with all the versions of the game including COD-UO. When I open the
console I see the game complains that "ERROR: possible infinite loop in script, aborting."

Anyone with ideas, or do I have to do a ritual burning of the cd's on the backyard?

yeah seriously, thats a werid problem to have unless you DONT have a hard copy.

sounds like a COD issue not something with your rig...

The strange thing is that it used to work, all versions. Suddenly stopped to work a few months ago but I didn't think that much of at the time and uninstalled the game. Reinstalled it a few days ago, and now I have the same problem.

And yes, it is a retail game bought some time ago. A bit worn on the edges, scratchy and such but it does not complain when installed or so.
