Question Can I get on Xbox Live thru a computer connected to a router?

Ok my question probably doesn't make sense... What I'm wondering is if it is possible to plug the ethernet cable between my Xbox 360 and my laptop (which is connected wirelessly to my router) in order to gain access to Live without a wireless adapter OR plugging straight into a modem.

Cuz the 360 would be wired to a wireless source. Any one think it would work?

I would try it right now but I won't be home for another week x.x

Yes it is possible.... It may not work as some wireless devices have a problem with being bridged.

To set up just connect the xbox with the ethernet cable to the laptop, and make sure both devices are on. You then need to open network connections and find your wireless card and your xbox (ethernet port). Highlight both and right click, it should give you an option to bridge connections. Willl take 10-15 seconds, it will either work or your laptop will loose the ability to connect to the net.

is there any reason why you cant just plug the ethernet cable directly in to the router from the xbox, if it is distance then you can either get a long cable made or get some ethernet over power adaptors, but with the cable there is a maximum length you can have it i cant remember what it is right now but maybe someone else can although i am sure it is quite long, longer than you need even at the longest route round your average house
there's someone in my head but its not me

So it must not have worked cuz I've lost my ability to connect to the internet... even though it says I am connected. Lol, so now that you've broken my computer how do I get back on? I've tried the simple things like restarting my link and doing the "repair" option yet it doesn't like me apparently.

Too long of a distance and my mom is OCD about there not being any video games in the living room even though that's where the modem and router are. (I'm not a 40 year old guy who lives in my mom's basement) And I'm too cheap to get a wireless adapter for the Xbox.

how big is your house, the max length of a cable is 100 meters i have just looked it up ethernet maximum cable length explained at HomeNetHelp.com
unless you live in a mansion i doubt very much your room will be over 100 meters from the router, again there are also ethernet over power plugs

Ha I figured it out. The 360 will override the computer's IP. Disregard my previous question :3
